Exploring Physical Activity Promotion Plans for Children from Multicultural Families based on a Socio-ecological Model

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 다문화 가정 아동의 신체활동과 관련된 문제를 사회생태학적 관점에서 이해하고, 이에 기반하여 촉진방안을 제시하는 것이다. 본 연구는 가속도계 연구와 포토보이스 연구를 봉시에 수행하는 혼합연구의 기법을 사용하였다. 두 개의 각기 다른 연구방법은 2016년 10월부터 2017년 6월까지 혼합연구의 다양한 방식 중 ‘포섭’의 방식으로 진행되며 분석되었다. 최초 62명의 다문화 아동 중 가장 적합한 30명의 아동이 가속도계 연구에 참여하였고, 이들중 단 한명도 DHHS의 신체활동 권고량인 일일60분의 수준에 도달 하지 못했다. 이들 중 9명의 다문화 아동이 포토보이스 연구에 참여하였다. 포토보이스 연 구를 통해 두 개의 메인테마를 발견하였으며, 각각의 메인테마는 3, 4개의 마이너 테마를 가진다. 첫 번째 메인테마인 신체활동의 의미에서는 1) 한국친구들과 관계 재정립의 수단, 2) 순응, 그리고 작은 즐거움, 3) ‘서로 다름’ 재확인의 장이라는 마이너 테마가 도출되었다. 두 번째 메인테마인 신체활동 참여의 문제점에서는 1) 인종차별로 인한 신체활동 최초진입의 어려움, 2) 경제적 측면과 관련된 제한적 기회, 3) 가정에서의 소통부재, 4) 포기가 도출되었다. 상기의 도출된 테마들에 기반하여 신체활동촉진방안을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to understand barriers and problems associated with physical activity in children from multicultural families on socio-ecological model; and, to provide promotion plans for their physical activity. This study employed two independent phases including accelerometer study, and photovoice. Two phases were analyzed based on nesting design among diverse mixed method designs from October 2016 to June 2017. Among 62 Children from Multicultural Families, 30 individuals participated in the accelerometer study. In the first phase, 30 individuals did not meet at least 60 min of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) suggested by DHHS. Finally, 9 individuals participated in the second phase. Two major themes emerged including meaning of physical activity and issues in physical activity participation. Each major theme has minor themes. The first theme, the meaning of physical activity, had three minor themes such as re-establish relationship with Korean friends; accommodation and slight enjoyment; and, a place for re-production of differences. The second major themes had four minor themes including difficulty in initial participation due to racial discrimination; limited opportunity because of economic status; absence of family communication; and, abandonment. Based on these themes, this study attempted to provide the promoting plans with socio-ecological model.
