국문 초록

본 논문은 교육학 지도에 있어서 주된 방식인 인문주의적 교육방식을 사용하는 한국 EFL 교실에서 유머러스한 어린이 시가 가질 수 있는 역할에 대해 고찰한다. 인문주의적 접근법으로 보면 학생의 참가와 참여를 통해 감정과 흥미를 통한 언어 사용으로 언어습득이 이루어지는 것이 궁극적인 목표다. 유머러스한 어린이 시는 일반적인 수업 자료와는 형태와 소리가 다를 뿐만 아니라 학생들에게 언어에 접근하는 새로운 방법을 제공하는 이점이 있다. 동시에 많은 표준 EFL 환경에서 실용되는 필수 특징들이 유지된다. 시를 교과과정에 통합하는 것은 학생들의 참여를 증가시킬 가능성을 가지고 있지만 언어를 증폭 시키는 활동도 필요하다. 특히 두 편의 시를 고찰하고 그 시와 짝을 이루는 활동에 대한 제안을 제시하였다. 이러한 방법들의 사용은 학생들의 자기표현과 창의성을 지원하여, 학생들이 위협적이지 않은 환경에서 성장할 수 있게 한다. 이를 통해 교사들은 EFL 교실에서 학생 학습을 활성화하고 학생들의 관심을 유지할 수 있는 또 다른 방법을 갖게 된다.

영문 초록

This paper examines the role humorous children’s poetry could have on a Korean EFL classroom where the humanistic teaching method is the prime mode of pedagogical instruction. Viewed through the lens of the humanistic approach, student participation and engagement are the ultimate aims through which acquisition comes from the use of the language via emotions and interests. Humorous children’s poetry has the benefit of being different in both form and sound from traditional class materials, giving the students a new way to approach the language, while also retaining the necessary features to be practical in many standard EFL settings. While incorporating poetry into the curriculum has the possibility of increasing student engagement, activities which amplify the language are also necessary. Two poems in particular are examined and suggestions for activities to pair with the poems are offered. The use of these methods support student self-expression and creativity, allowing the students to thrive in a non-threatening environment. Through this, teachers have another tool in which to activate student learning and maintain interest in an EFL classroom.
