우즈베키스탄 유학생의 대학생활에서의 의사소통 경험에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 우즈베키스탄 유학생의 대학생활에서의 의사소통 경험에 나타난 어려움과 그에 대한 의미를 분석하여 원활한 대학생활을 위한 방안을 제시하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해 ‘우즈베키스탄 유학생의 대학생활에서의 어려움은 무엇인가?’, ‘우즈베키스탄 유학생의 의사소통 경험은 어떻게 나타나는가?’라는 연구 문제를 설정하였다. 이 문제를 해결하기 위하여 본 연구는 2018년 3월부터 2018년 10월까지 진행되었다. 이를 위하여 우즈베키스탄 출신 유학생 10명을 연 구 대상으로 선정하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 우즈베키스탄 유학생의 부족한 언어 실력 때문에 한국인 교수도 이를 잘못 해석하고, 연구참여자들도 교수의 의도와는 달리 지적이나 농담을 잘못 받아들여 오해하게 되는 경우가 있었다. 둘째, 우즈베키스탄 유학생들은 한국인 학생들과 면 대 면 의사소통을 할 때 언어적인 어려움과 문화적인 어려움을 경험하였다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 한국대학교육에 주는 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 외국인 유학생이 대학교에 다니면서 어학당을 이용할 수 있도록 대학교에서 허용할 필요가 있다. 즉, 생활회화가 아니라 각 분야별 전문용어를 배울 수 있는 어학당 마련에 노력해야 할 것이다. 둘째, 대학생활에 적응하기 위해서는 전공에 대한 전반적인 이해가 필수적이다. 이와 같이 전문용어를 가 리키는 외국인 전문용어 강좌가 필요하다고 본다. 셋째, 언어교류 프로그램과 같은 실질적인 방안이 필요하다.

영문 초록

In this study, we analyse the difficulties and the meanings of communication experience in the university life of Uzbek students through in-depth qualitative survey and propose a plan for smooth college life. In order to achieve this goal, we have set up a research question: What are the difficulties in Uzbek students college life? and How do Uzbek students get communication experiences? As a result of the research, communication with professors was classified into two categories: lectures in Korean and English; communication with fellow students was classified into face-to-face communication and communication via SNS. First, Korean professors often misunderstood students because of the lack of language s ills of international students from Uzbekistan. Also, research participants sometimes misunderstood professors by mistaking their comments or jokes, unlike professors intentions. Second, international students from Uzbekistan who studied in Korea studied the Korean language in Uzbekistan, but their Korean language s ills were at the level of living conversation. International students from Uzbekistan who entered the university at the level of living discourse were able to confirm that they were experiencing difficulties in adapting to university life because of unfamiliar jargon. Second, international students in Uzbekistan were experiencing much trouble when they communicate with Korean students via SNS because they were different from SNS Korean and Korean that they learned in their hometowns. Based on these findings, implications for Korean college education are as follows. First, it is necessary for universities to allow international students to go to university and use language school. In other words, we should try to prepare language school which can learn jargon for each field rather than life conversation. Second, overall understanding of the major is essential to adapt to college life. In this way, it is necessary to have a lecture on terminology for foreigners, which refers to terminology. Third, there is a need for practical measures such as language exchange programs.
