대학생 중도탈락 연구동향과 과제: 학술지 연구를 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 대학생 중도탈락에 대한 연구동향을 살펴보고 이를 토대로 향후 연구과제를 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 2000년도에서 2018년까지 국내 학술지에 발표된 논문들을 조사하여 총 71편의 논문을 분석하였다. 분석 논문을 대상으로 먼 저 전반적인 연구동향(발표연도, 학술지 및 학술지 분야, 연구대상 및 연구방법, 연구대상 및 연구주제)과 연구 대상(중도탈락자, 중도탈락자와 중도탈락 의도자, 중도탈락 의도자, 대학기관)에 따른 연구 내용을 분석하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 대학생 중 도탈락에 대한 연구는 2000년대 들어 나타나, 2011년 이후 증가하기 시작하였으며, 교육학 분야에 게재된 연구가 가장 많은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 연구방법의 경우 양적연구방법을 활용한 논문이 가장 많았으며, 질적연구는 상대적으로 적게 나타났다. 셋째, 연구대상 분석 결과, 실제 중도탈락자 대상의 연구는 많은 편이 아니었고, 재학생(중도탈락 의도자) 대상의 연구가 가장 많은 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 연구대상에 따른 연구 내용 분석 결과, 중도탈락자 대상의 연구는 중도탈락 경험이 있는 자를 상으로 중도탈락의 직접적인 원인을 찾고자 하는 연구가 많았고, 중도탈락자와 중도탈락 의도자(재학생) 모두를 대상으로 한 연구에서는 두 집단 간의 차이를 알아보려는 연구가 많았다. 그리고 중도탈락 의도자 대상의 연구에서는 중도탈락 의도의 원 인을 주제로 한 경우가 가장 많았으며, 마지막으로 대학기관을 대상으로 한 연구들은 대부분 대학에서 제공하는 공개 데이터를 활용하여 중도탈락에 영향을 주는 대학기관의 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 논의를 하고 연구 의 시사점을 도출하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the research trends of college dropouts in Korea and to suggest implications of future researches. For this purpose, I collected 71 academic articles which were published in domestic journals from 2000 to 2019. First, the trend of research was analyzed according to publication year, journals field, research subject and method, and research theme. Second, the research theme was analyzed according to research subject such as the dropout, the students’ dropout intention and he dropout, the students’ dropouts and the university/college institutions. Major findings of this study can be summarized as follows: First, the number of research articles has been growing since 2011 and the most published articles were found in the field of education. Second, there were more articles using quantitative research method compared to articles with the qualitative research method. Third, the research on the students with dropout intention were much more than the actual dropout students. Fourth, the studies regarding college dropouts were largely an attempt to find the direct causes of the dropouts. There were many studies to examine the differences between the two groups those who were the dropout and the students’ dropout intention. The study attempted to find the causes of the students’ dropout intentions. Finally, most of the studies on university institutions tried to identify factors that university could affect the dropout. Based on these results, I discussed and suggested the implications on future research.
