국문 초록

본고는 국내 외 전래 동화 독서 활동을 통하여 중학생의 상호 문화 인식 고취를 목적으로 한다. 그간 독서 교육을 통한 다문화 인식 개선에 대한 연구는 다수 진행되 었으나 그 제재로 다문화 관련 소설을 선정하는 경우가 많아 기존의 편견이 재생산될 여지가 있다. 이런 독서 제재를 벗어나 인류 문화의 뿌리를 알 수 있는 국내 외 전래 동화를 선택하여 그 이야기 속에 면면히 흐르는 인류 공통의 가치와 원형을 이해하고자 한다. 이런 독서 활동을 통해서 자신의 문화를 성찰하고 기저 유사성의 원리에서 다른 문화를 받아들일 수 있는 상호 문화 인식을 키울 수 있을 것이다. 중학생을 대상 으로 하여 국내 외 전래 동화 독서 활동을 통한 상호문화교육 활동안을 고안하였으며 실제 수업을 실시하여 다문화 인식의 변화를 검증하였다. 다문화 인식 검사지를 사용하여 사전 사후 검사 결과에 대해 유의성을 검정한 결과 ‘인지/정의/행동’ 중 행동적 영역에서 유의미한 변화를 보였다. 이를 통해 전래 동화를 활용한 독서 활동이 중학생의 다문화 인식에 긍정적인 효과가 있음을 알 수 있었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to promote the intercultural awareness of middle school students through reading activities with Korean and foreign traditional fairy tales. There have been many studies on the improvement of multicultural awareness through reading education, but prejudices are being reproduced since multicultural related novels are selected for the study. The goal is to understand the common values and prototypes of human beings in the story by choosing Korean and foreign traditional fairy tales that present the roots of human culture through these limited reading subjects. Through this reading activity, they can reflect on their own culture and cultivate intercultural awareness to accept other cultures from the principle of underlying similarity. For middle school students, an intercultural education activity was planned through Korean and foreign traditional fairy tale reading activities and actual classes were conducted to verify changes in multicultural awareness. The results of the pre- and postmulticultural awareness test showed significance found in behavioral areas among the ‘cognitive/affective/behavioral’ domain. It confirms that reading activities using traditional fairy tales had a positive effect on middle school students perception of multiculturalism.
