국문 초록

교사와 학부모의 파트너십은 양자 간의 협력과 소통을 근간으로 이루어지며 학교 교 육에 중요한 기반이다. 우리나라의 학부모의 학교 참여는 아직까지 초보적인 수준으로 조사된 바 있는데, 이는 학부모-교사 간 협력 관계의 강화가 필요함을 시사한다. 이 연구 는 면접조사와 설문조사를 통하여 학부모의 학교 참여에 대한 학부모와 교사의 인식과 요구를 파악하고 ‘학부모-교사 간 협력 관계’의 문제점을 구체화함으로써 이들의 협력 관 계를 지원하는 ‘교사 연수 프로그램’의 방향을 탐색하는데 목적이 있다. 연구의 주요 결과 를 요약 제시하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 면담 조사 결과 교사들은 학부모가 학교(교사)에 과도한 기대와 요구를 한다는 인식을 가지고 있었고, 학부모들은 학교(교사)가 학부모와의 소통을 거부한다고 생각하 고 있어 기본적인 인식의 차이가 큼을 파악할 수 있었다. 또한, 다양한 매체를 통한 사소 통의 방법에 대한 인식의 차이, 교사의 특성이나 성향에 기인하는 학부모와의 의사소통 적 어려움을 교사와 학부모의 양 쪽의 입장에 포착되어 이에 대한 지원이 필요함을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 학부모-교사 간 협력 관계 증진을 위한 교사 연수 프로그램의 방향을 설정하기 위한 설문 조사 결과를 통하여 다음과 같은 정보를 도출할 수 있었다. 응답한 교사의 90%이상이 학부모와의 소통이 필요하다고 인식하고 있으나 부담감도 상당히 느끼고 있 는 것으로 조사 되었다. 응답자의 절반에 가까운 교사들은 ‘학부모의 권리와 역할, 관심 과 요구, 의사소통, 학부모 관련 업무에 대한 연수’ 경험이 한 번도 없었으며, 학부모와의 의사소통 방법에 관한 교사 연수 내용에 대한 선호도가 가장 높게 나타났다. 마지막으로 결론에서는 질적, 양적 조사 결과를 바탕으로 ‘학부모-교사 간 협력 관계 를 증진하기 위한 교사 연수 프로그램’의 개발 방향을 1) 교사 특성과 성향에 따른 맞춤 형 프로그램 제공 2) 학부모와 교사 간 의사소통에 대한 정보 구축 및 양자 간 공유를 위 한 체험형 프로그램 운영 3) 교사의 부담을 덜어주는 정책적 지원 등으로 제안하였다.

영문 초록

The partnership between teachers and parents is achieved on the basis of cooperation and communication, and is fundamental to school education. In the case of Korea, parental participation in their children’s education remains only at the elementary level, which suggests the need to reinforce the partnership between parents and teachers. This research aims to explore the course of a ‘Training Program for Teachers’ that supports the ‘parent-teacher partnership’, by examining the demands of parents and teachers regarding parental participation, and by specifying the problems related to the ‘parent-teacher partnership’, through interviews and surveys. The summaries of the main results are as follows. First, according to the interviews, teachers thought that parents expect too much from school(teachers) regarding their children, and parents perceived that school(teachers) refused to communicate at all regarding their requirements, showing a big gap between their perception. Also, there were differences between their perceptions of various methods of communication, and difficulties communicating were spotted in both parents and teachers, showing the need for support. Second, the survey result, aimed to set the course of training programs for teachers, in order to enhance parent-teacher cooperation, shows the following: 90% of teachers recognize the need to communicate with parents, but also felt a significant burden. Nearly half of the teachers surveyed never had the experience of ‘training programs for parental rights and needs, communication, and parent-related work’, and preferred to have training programs about methods of communication with parents. At the end of this research, based on the results of empirical, quantitative, qualitative research we suggest that the course of a ‘training program for teachers to enhance the parent-teacher partnership’ do the following: 1) provide a customized course tailored to the teachers’ characteristics, 2) run a participatory program to set up a shared information system to assist parent-teacher communication, 3) to support a policy to lift the burden from teachers.
