국문 초록

제4차 산업혁명 시대를 준비하는 시점에서 본 연구는 탈북청소년들을 위한 ICT 기반의 일대일 원격화상 영어학습의 효과를 살펴보고자 하였다. 본 연구는 2015년 9월-12월에 9명의 탈북청소년들을 대상으로 이루어 졌으며, 2-3회의 일대일 원격화 상교육과 1회의 면대면 학습을 병행하는 방식으로 이루어 졌다. 탈북청소년들을 대상으로 한 새로운 영어 학습에 대한 효과를 탐구하기 위하여 심층 면담, 원격화상 수업에 대한 비디오 녹화 분석, 사전-사후 검사, 수업참여관찰 등의 다양한 방법으로 자료를 수집하고 분석하였다. 본 연구 결과를 구체적으로 살펴보면, 탈북청소년 중심의 맞춤형 원격화상교육은 여러 가지 ICT 교육 매체와 교수 학습 방법의 사용으로 학습자들의 영어 능력을 증진과 함께 학업에 대한 흥미를 증가시키는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 일대일 원격화상교육은 탈북청소년들이 영어 사용이 빈번한 한국의 일상생활과 현 사회를 이해하고 적응하는데 도움이 되는 것으로 조사되었다. 마지막으로 ICT 기반의 원격화상교육은 탈북청소년들의 인터넷 및 컴퓨터 활용 능력을 증진 시키는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 앞으로의 제4차 산업혁명 시대를 준비하는 탈북 청소년을 위한 새로운 영어 교육적 방법을 제시하고, 탈북학생들의 영어 능력 향상과 함께 미래를 위한 교육 정책에 도움이 되고자 한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of English language learning supported by multimodal videoconferencing for North Korean youth students. In the fourth industrial revolution era, the customized contents and ICT-based instruction are innovative and meaningful English teaching approaches to the North Korean students. As a result of this study, it has been revealed that the customized multimodal videoconferencing, especially designed for the North Korean youth group has increased the learners’ English abilities and promoted positive attitudes to English language learning, because the new learning contexts have been using various teaching resources and materials provided. In addition, the new learning contexts using multimodal videoconferencing have facilitated the North Korean defectors to have better understanding of the current Korean society and its contemporary cultures, which reflects everyday Korean languages. By using authentic teaching materials representing Korean contemporary cultures, the learners can have genuine experiences of the Korean society. Finally, ICT-based videoconferencing can help the learners enhance the Internet and computer literacies, which are one of the fundamental aspects to prepare for the new era.
