유아수학교육에 대한 어머니의 인식, 실태 및 요구

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 유아수학교육에 관한 어머니의 인식과 실태는 어떠한지, 그리고 유아교육기관의 유아수학교육에 관한 어머니의 요구를 알아보고자 한다. 본 연구는 부산시 유아교육기관 어머니 363명 대상으로 설문조사하였다. 수집된 자료는 어머니의 인식과 실태를 알아보기 위하여 Χ2 검증을 실시하였고, 유아교육기관의 유아수학교육에 대한 어머니의 요구를 분석하기 위해 빈도와 백분율을 실시하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유아수학교육에 대한 어머니들의 인식을 살펴보면, 수학교육에 대한 관심과 필요성에 대해 높은 인식 수준을 보였고, 유아수학교육을 시작하는 적절한 시기는 37~48개월 미만으로 인식하고 있었으며, 유아수학 지도에 적절한 사람으로는 부모로 나타났다. 둘째, 유아수학교육에 대한 실태를 살펴보면, 가정에서 일상생활 중 수학적인 환경 제공 여부에 대해 제공한다가 69.0%로 나타났으며, 유아교육기관에서의 수학교육 만족도는 보통이다가 62.3%로 과반수 이상으로 나타났다. 셋째, 유아교육기관 수학교육에 대한 어머니의 요구를 살펴보면, 교사의 역할은 수학환경 제공자, 활동형태는 소집단활동, 학습방법은 일상생활을 통해, 평가방법으로는 행동관찰로 나타났다. 또한 유아교육기관 수학교육 활성화 위해 부모교육을 가장 많이 요구하였고, 수학교육 부모교육을 실시한다면, 91.5% 참여하고 싶다고 응답하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the awareness of mothers on early childhood mathematics education, the state of their math education and their needs for that. The subjects in this study were 363 selected mothers in early childhood educational institutions in the city of Busan, on whom a survey was conducted. After data were gathered, x2-test was carried out to find out the awareness of the mothers and the state of their math education, and statistical data on frequency and percentage were obtained to analyze their needs for early childhood math education in the early childhood educational institutions. The findings of the study were as follows: First, as for the awareness of the mothers on early childhood math education, they had a strong interest in that education and were highly aware of the necessity of it. Concerning the right time for the beginning of early childhood math education, they perceived that it should start at the 37-48 month ages. Parents were considered as the best persons to teach early childhood math. Second, as to the state of early childhood math education, whether they provided mathematical family environments in daily life was asked, and 69.0 percent replied they did. And they were satisfied with the education provided by the early childhood educational institutions. As to satisfaction level with the math education offered by the educational institutions, 62.3 percent that were more than half were neither quite satisfied nor quite unsatisfied. Third, in regard to the needs of the mothers for math education in the early childhood educational institutions, they believed that teachers should play a role as providers of mathematical environments, and their favorite form of activity was small-group activities. In terms of learning method, they thought math education should be conducted through daily life, and the preferred evaluation method was behavioral observations. Concerning ways of vitalizing math education in early childhood educational institutions, they called for parent education most, and 91.5 percent replied they d like to receive parent education on math education if the education would be provided.
