성인 학습자들의 학습 참여동기와 성과 관련 변인 간의 메타분석

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 평생교육에 참여하는 성인학습자들의 학습 참여동기와 성과 관련 변인들의 관계를 종합적으로 구명하는 것이다. 이를 위해 최근 성인학습자들의 학습 참여동기를 주제로 한 45건의 연구를 바탕으로 메타분석을 실시하였다. 학습 참여동기는 Houle이 제시한 목표지향, 학습지향, 활동지향의 3가지 유형을 활용하였으며, 관련 성과로는 강사, 교육내용, 교육환경/시설에 대한 만족도가 포함된 학습성과와 가정생활, 사회적(여가), 신체정서, 인지적 변화와 자아성장, 삶의 만족이 포함된 삶의 질 성과로 구분하여 분석하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 성인학습자의 학습 동기와 성과 관련 변인 간의 관계는 중간 정도의 관련성이 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 둘째, 학습 참여동기 유형별 학습성과 및 삶의 질 성과 변인의 관계에서는 학습지향, 활동지향, 목표지향 순으로 높게 나타났다. 학습지향, 활동지향은 중간 수준의 상관관계가 있는 것으로 확인되었으나 목표지향은 중간보다 낮은 수준으로 확인되었다. 셋째, 학습 참여동기 유형별 학습성과로 인식된 변인은 차이가 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 성인학습자가 학습에 참여하는 동기는 학령기 학생들처럼 획일적이지 않다. 따라서 평생학습 프로그램의 내용과 목표, 교육방법, 강사, 시설 등을 고려하여 운영의 목적을 달리한 다양한 교육이 진행되어야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to comprehensively investigate the relationship between learning motivation participation and performance related variables of adult learners participating in lifelong education. To do this, we conducted a meta-analysis based on 45 studies on motivation to participate in learning and learning for adult learners. The motivation for participating in learning was three types of goal orientation, learning orientation, and activity orientation proposed by Houle. The related performance was learning achievement including satisfaction with instructor, education contents, education environment/facilities, Social, leisure, physical, emotional, cognitive, self - growth, and life satisfaction. The results of this study are as follows: First, it is found that the relationship between learning motivation and performance related variables is moderate. Second, in the relation between learning outcomes and quality of life and the variables of learning participation motive type, learning orientation, activity orientation, and goal orientation were higher in order. Learning orientation, and activity orientation were found to have a medium level of correlation, but the goal orientation was confirmed to be lower than the middle level. Third, it was found that there were differences in the variables perceived as learning outcomes according to the type of participation. The motivation for adult learners to participate in learning is not uniform as school-age students. Therefore, various education should be carried out with different purpose of operation considering the content and goals of lifelong learning program, education method, lecturer, facilities.
