영문 초록

The current study aimed to investigate the meaning of peer tutoring between young children appearing at the music center during the free center play in a young children educational institution. To this end, we observed a class for 4 years called Spring Water in a daycare center D located in Gyonggi-do. The participants are composed of 12 children of the class and a teacher in charge, and we collected the data from March 22, 2016 to May 31, 2016. After analyzing the observation journal, the research journal, and the interview data of the teacher, we yielded results like the following. First, the music center showed the activity of peer tutoring while they selected music and provided knowledge and information one another. Second, young children delivered and learned feeling from the music activity and how to express the beauty each other. The meaning of peer tutoring between young children emerging in the music center is not just one directional delivery of musical knowledge, information, feeling, and emotion. Instead, the young children shared what they know and enjoyed together in the limited time and space. This study might be significant in that the authors did not look into music lessons from the point of view of grown-ups but searched for the genuine meaning of peer tutoring from the perspective of young children by exploring the activity of the music center for the 4 year children.
