‘존재’ 의미를 나타내는 ‘이다’ 구문에 대한 통사·의미적 분석

국문 초록

목적 본 연구에서는 실제 말뭉치 자료를 기반하여 ‘존재’ 의미를 나타내는 ‘이다’ 구문 용례를 찾아 그 구조적 및 의미적 특성을 탐구하는 데 목적을 둔다. 방법 첫째, 21세기 세종 말뭉치 및 고려대학교 민족문화연구원 현대한국어 용례 등 실제 말뭉치 자료에 기반하여 ‘존재’ 의미를 나타내는 ‘이다’ 구문 용례를 추출하였다. 둘째, 추출된 ‘존재’ 의미를 나타내는 ‘이다’ 구문의 구조 유형을 분류하였고 각 유형의 구성 요소를 살펴보았다. 셋째, ‘있다’ 존재문과 비교함으로써 ‘존재’ 의미를 나타내는 ‘이다’ 구문의 NP가 지닌 의미적 특성을 살펴보았다. 마지막으로 주관성 이론을 활용하여 ‘이다’ 구문의 원형의미에서 출발하여 ‘존재’ 의미를 나타내는 ‘이다’ 구문의 NP가 지닌 의미특성에 대해 해석하고자 하였다. 결과 우선 ‘존재’ 의미를 나타내는 ‘이다’ 구문의 기본 구조는 ‘NPL+NP+이다’이고 구체적인 구조 형식은 세 가지 유형으로 귀납하였다. 또한 NPL 자리에는 구체적인 처소나 추상적인 처소가 가능하고 그 자리가 비어 있는 경우도 있다. NP 자리에는 구체적인 유생의 사람과 무생의 물건이 나올 수 있고 그 외에 사건 및 추상적인 사유활동과 정서도 자리할 수 있다. 그 다음에 ‘존재’ 의미를 나타내는 ‘이다’ 구문을 ‘있다’ 존재문으로 교체하여 어떤 의미 차이가 있는지를 분석한 결과 ‘존재’ 의미를 나타내는 ‘이다’ 구문의 NP가 [+전량], [+유일성], [+현저성]이라는 의미특성이 있다는 것을 발견하였다. 마지막으로 화자가 주관적으로 NPL과 NP가 동일하다고 인식하기 때문에 위와 같은 의미특성이 드러나는 것이다. 결론 본 연구는 처음으로 ‘존재’ 의미를 나타내는 ‘이다’ 구문의 구조적 및 의미적 특성을 다루었다. 많이 부족하겠지만 한국어 계사구문의 의미 양상 및 한국어 ‘존재’ 의미 범주를 연구하는 데 한 걸음 더 나아가는 점에서 의미가 있다고 생각한다.

영문 초록

Objectives In this study, it aims to identify the ‘ida’ sentence with the meaning of ‘existence’ and to explore their structural and semantic features based on the actual corpus. Methods Firstly, using actual corpus data such as the Sejong Corpus and the SJ-RIKS Corpus, we retrieved use instances of the ‘ida’ sentence with the meaning of ‘existence’; Secondly, analyzed the structural types and constituent elements of the ‘ida’ sentence with the meaning of ‘existence’; Thirdly, the semantic features of the NP of the ‘ida’ sentence with the meaning of ‘existence’ are examined through a comparison with the ‘itta’ existence sentence; Finally, based on subjective theory and starting from the prototypical meaning of the ‘ita’ sentence, an explanation of the semantic features is offered. Results The results show that, Firstly, the basic structure of the ‘ida’ sentence with the meaning of ‘existence’ is ‘NPL+NP+ida’ and the sentence structure can be summarized into three types. Among them, there can be concrete and abstract places in the NPL position, and there are also vacancies. In the NP position, not only can there be specific living people or inanimate objects, but events and abstract thinking activities and emotions can appear as well; Secondly, by replacing ‘ida’ sentence with the meaning of ‘existence’ with the ‘itta’ existence sentence, it is concluded that the NP of the ‘ida’ sentence with the meaning of ‘existence’ has the features of [+sufficiency], [+uniqueness], and [+prominence]; Thirdly, the motivation behind the ‘ida’ sentence with the meaning of ‘existence’ with the above semantic features is that the speaker's subjective view that NPL and NP is equivalent identity. Conclusions This study examines the structure and semantic features of the ‘ida’ sentence with the meaning of ‘existence’. Although there are many shortcomings, I believe that this study has implications for the semantic study of copular sentences and the semantic category of Korean ‘existence’.
