유아기 심미감 발달과 연계한 물감수업의 탐구 - 뱅크스트리트, 레지오 에밀리아, 발도르프를 중심으로 -

국문 초록

유아미술에서 물감활동의 의미와 중요성을 유아의 심미감 발달과 연계하여 고찰하였다. 유아미술을 핵심적인 교육과정으로 삼고있는 유아교육 프로그램-뱅크스트리트, 레지오 에밀리아, 발도르프-에서 물감활동이 어떻게 활용되고 있는지를 관찰자료와 문헌, 영상자료를 중심으로 분석하였다. 특히 각 접근법에서 사용하는 물감재료의 종류와 기법, 심미감의 정의, 그리고 심미감 지원을 위해 사용하는 교사의 상호작용 형태에 초점을 두어 분석하였다. 뱅크스트리트 접근법에서는 유아의 심미감 발달단계에 근거하여 다섯 가지 색의 템페라 페인팅과 간결한 예술언어를 중심으로 상호작용을 강조하였고, 레지오 접근법에서는 심미적 사고에 초점을 두고 다상징적 표상매체로서 물감활동과 사고의 확장을 위한 집단간 토론문화를 강조하는 것으로 드러났다. 또한 발도르프 접근법은 영성과 초월적 심미감에 초점을 두고 이를 위하여 젖은 수채화 기법과 시와 문학을 활용한 상호작용을 강조하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 유아교육기관에서 종종 그 중요성이 간과되어 버리기 쉬운 물감활동의 다양한 사례를 조명해 봄으로써 물감활동은 아동의 심미감 발달을 위하여 가장 의미 있는 활동이 될 수 있으며 이를 위해 유아 교실에서 독립된 미술활동으로 지속적으로 제공되어야 함을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

This study explored the various approaches to painting lessons in early childhood classrooms which are particularly bounded with fostering young children's aesthetic sensibility. Internationally known early childhood programs-Bank Street, Reggio Emilia, and Waldorf kindergarten-were selected and their painting lessons at each program were observed. Besides observation data, this study includes the analysis on publications and video material containing painting lessons for young children at each school. Data analysis focused on the variety of types of painting materials, the ways of offering the materials, and the perspectives on children's aesthetic sensibility related to painting activity, and the dialogues to support children's aesthetic senses during painting lessons. It was found that the Bank Street Approach uses exclusively tempera paint with only five colors and art language which are supposed to more appropriate to support young children's aesthetic development while Reggio Emilia approach uses a variety of types paint and skills of painting to foster and expand young children's aesthetic thinking and emphasized the abundant dialogues between teachers and children in various group sizes. Waldorf approach uses very unique painting strategies, namely wet on wet approach which seems to be more appropriate to support children's aesthetic sense of colors in nature and utilize poems and literature as a way to interact with young children during the painting lessons. This study revealed unlimited possibility of painting lessons for young children which are often undervalued in current art education in early childhood and suggests that painting should be a significant way to support young children's aesthetic sensibility and must be offered a year round in an independent way.
