청소년기 미술표현활동의 인성교육적 가치

국문 초록

본 연구는 생리적, 심리적, 사회적 변화가 가장 많이 일어나는 청소년기 인성과 연관하여 미술표현활동의 교육적 가치를 논의한다. 인간의 본질에 대한 다양한 견해들을 살펴봄으로써 낙관주의적 삶의 태도와 자존감 향상을 증진하는 청소년기 미술표현활동이 바람직한 미래사회를 위한 인성 형성에 중요한 가치를 지니고 있음을 사례를 들어 주장한다. 다사다난한 삶을 살았던 청년예술가 장 바스키아의 미술표현활동, 영국의 다문화환경에서의 소외 계층의 청소년들의 미술표현활동, 그리고 한국의 부적응학생들의 미술치료활동 사례들은 최근 확산되고 있는 학교폭력과 같은 청소년 문제에 대해 인간 본성적 차원에서 보다 근원적인 고찰의 기회를 제공한다. 다변하는 현대사회속에서 다양한 사회문화적 배경을 지닌 청소년들이 모여 공통된 교육적 목적을 가지고 생활하는 학교라는 환경에서 불안정한 정체성을 가지고 있는 학생들에게 미술표현활동을 통한 자아표현의 몰입은 자존감을 증진시키고 자신과 다른 타인과 문화소통의 가능성을 열어주며 자신을 둘러싼 갈등적 환경과 상황에서 삶에 대한 긍정적 변화를 가져올 수 있다. 이 연구는 최근 창의ㆍ인성교육 의 일환으로 예술교육의 중요성을 부각하는 상황에서 미술표현활동을 통한 인성교육의 방법적 가능성을 제공한다.

영문 초록

This paper serves the importance of character education for adolescents who are struggling for self-esteem in the unstable and unpredictable complex world and the character educational value of adolescents' artistic expression activities. In discussing the value of character education for adolescents who are living in the different cultural backgrounds, the theoretical examination of optimism. various views of human nature, self-esteem and character are presented in relation to the educational needs. To examine the importance of optimism and open understanding of human nature for character education, the issues of school violence are discussed with the recent efforts to promote character education. This discussion turns to the relationship between character education and art activities as aesthetic experiences. Finally the three practical cases of character education through art activities are addressed cross-culturally in terms of the value of character education. Through investigating theoretically the various views of human-being nature and optimistic attitudes of life, this study demonstrates that character education for promoting adolescence' self-esteem and identity is highly related to art education based on aesthetic experiences and sensitivity through artistic expressional activities.
