미디어 리터러시 관련 연구 동향 분석

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 미디어 리터러시 관련 연구 문헌을 분석하여 최근 미디어 리터러시 관련 연구 추이를 파악하고, 향후 미디어 리터러시 교육의 방향성을 제언하고자 한다. 방법 분석 자료는 한국학술지인용색인(KCI)과 학술연구정보서비스(RISS)에서 미디어 리터러시 관련 키워드를 검색하여 1차 자료를 수집하였고, 넷마이너 ‘Biblio Data collector’ 서지 정보 수집 엔진을 이용하여 2차 자료를 수집하였다. 1.⋅2차 자료를 검토하여 총 521편의 논문을 대상으로 선정하였다. 분석 대상을 연구 시기 및 방법별로 분류하였고, 연구 목적과 미디어 리터러시 세부 역량에 따라 매트릭스로 준거 틀을 만들어 분석하였다. 결과 첫째, 시기별 연구 동향은 2011년부터 2020년까지 꾸준히 증가 추세를 보이고 있었다. 둘째, 연구 방법별 분류에서는 양적 연구 34.7%, 문헌 연구 31.3%, 질적 연구 22.5%의 순으로 나타났다. 셋째, 연구 목적별 분류에서는 미디어 리터러시에 대한 인식과 역량에 대한 연구가 201편(38.6%)으로 가장 활발하게 수행되었고, 연구 목적 연도별로 분류에서는 전반기보다 후반기에 인식 및 역량에 대한 연구(40.8%)와 교육 현황에 대한 연구(25.6%)가 더 증가세를 보이고 있다. 넷째, 미디어 리터러시 세부 역량 분석에서는 비판적⋅분별적 미디어 평가 역량 관련 연구가 83편(32.0%)으로 가장 많았고, 미디어 표현 역량 65편(25.1%), 미디어 향유 역량 61편(23.6%)의 순으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 연구 목적과 세부 역량을 매트릭스 분석한 결과, 미디어 접근 및 기능 활용에 대한 연구와 향유 역량 연구에서 개념 및 이론적 고찰에 대한 연구가 다소 부족한 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 생산적 미디어 표현 역량 연구를 제외한 전반적 연구에서 프로그램 및 모형 개발⋅검증 연구, 교육 방안 및 효과성 분석에 대한 연구가 미흡한 상태로 나타났다. 결론 미디어 리터러시에 대한 인식과 교육현황을 바탕으로 미디어 리터러시 세부 역량이 균형 있게 반영된 프로그램이나 모형 연구가 더 활발하게 진행될 필요가 있고, 미디어 교육 관련 기관과 정부의 정책적 지원이 수반되어야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study analyzes the research literature related to media literacy to grasp the recent trend of research related to media literacy and to suggest the direction of media literacy education in the future. Methods As for the analysis data, primary data were collected by searching for keywords related to media literacy in the Korean academic journal Quote Index (KCI) and Academic Research Information Service (RISS), and secondary data were collected using the Netminer ‘Biblio Data Collector’ bibliographic information collection engine. A total of 521 papers were selected by reviewing the 1.2nd data. The analysis targets were classified by research period and method, and analysis was conducted by creating a reference frame with a matrix according to the research purpose and media literacy capabilities. Results First, research trends by period were steadily increasing from 2011 to 2020. Second, in the classification by research method, quantitative research was 34.7%, literature research was 31.3%, and qualitative research was 22.5%. Third, in the classification by research purpose, 201 studies on media literacy and competency were most actively conducted (38.6%) and in the classification by year of research purpose, studies on perception and competency (40.8%) and studies on education status (25.6%) were increasing in the second half. Fourth, in the detailed competency analysis of media literacy, 83 studies (32.0%) related to critical and discriminatory media evaluation capabilities were the most common, followed by 65 (25.1%) media expression capabilities and 61 (23.6%). Fifth, as a result of matrix analysis of research purpose and detailed competency, it was confirmed that research on media access and functional utilization and research on conceptual and theoretical considerations in enjoyment competency research were somewhat insufficient. In general studies excluding research on productive media expression capabilities, studies on program and model development and verification research, educational plans, and effectiveness analysis were found to be insufficient. Conclusions Based on the awareness of media literacy and the current status of education, it is necessary to conduct more active research on programs or models that balanced media literacy capabilities, and policy support from media education-related institutions and governments should be accompanied.
