그림책을 활용한 유아 과학교육의 연구동향

국문 초록

목적 본 연구에서는 그림책을 활용한 유아 과학교육 연구의 동향을 살펴봄으로써 그림책이라는 문학적 접근법을 활용한 통합적 유아 과학교육의 발전적 방안을 모색하고자 하였다. 방법 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 그림책을 활용한 유아 과학교육 연구의 연구시기, 연구주제, 연구방법, 연구의 초점이 된 과학 관련 탐색변인에 따른 동향을 고찰하였다. 분석대상 논문은 2020년까지 출간된 국내 석⋅박사학위논문과 학술지에 게재된 논문으로 최종적으로 학위논문 49편, 학술지 논문 26편, 총 75편이 분석에 사용되었다. 결과 첫째, 그림책을 활용한 유아 과학교육 연구의 연구시기에 따른 동향은 1997년 처음 석사학위논문이 나온 이후 관련 연구가 점진적으로 증가하였고 2019년과 2020년에 다시 감소하고 있다. 연구주제에 따른 동향은 교수법, 교육활동 개발 및 적용에 관한 연구의 비중이 높았고 그림책 내용분석, 프로그램개발 연구의 순으로 연구가 이루어졌다. 둘째, 연구유형에서는 양적연구의 실험연구가 가장 많은 것으로 나타났다. 연구방법에 따른 동향은 4-5세 유아 대상의 연구가 많았고 31-60명의 표집크기가 가장 많은 것으로 나타났다. 자료수집방법에서는 관찰법 사용 연구가 56%로 가장 많았다. 마지막으로 과학 관련 탐색변인에 따른 연구동향을 살펴본 결과, 과학적 탐구능력, 과학적 태도, 과학적 문제해결력에 관한 연구의 비율이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 결론 연구결과를 토대로 그림책을 활용한 유아 과학교육 연구에서 영유아나 교사, 부모 등의 연구대상의 확대와 적절한 도구개발의 필요성에 대한 시사점과 대안을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study was to identify the research trends of early childhood science education through picture books and suggest the future direction in this field using literature-based approach. Methods This study classified 75 domestic researches related to early childhood science education through picture books published until 2020 according to the time, subject, method and variables of researches. Collected data were analyzed by calculating the frequencies and percentages. Results First, since the research related to early childhood science education through picture books was first published in 1997, researches related to it gradually increased and decreased in 2019 and 2020. Experimental research was the most used type of research design. Second, as for the research subject, the majority of researches focused on development or application of teaching methods and activities. Third, 4~5 year-old children were the age group most participated as subjects. Also, the most common sample size was 31-60 children and the observation method was the most used method of data collection. Lastly, scientific exploration, attitudes, and problem solving were the most studied variables. Conclusions Relying on the findings, this study concluded the researches were needed to diversify the range of subjects including younger children, teachers, and parents. This study also suggested the future research dealing with the development of the tools measuring scientific variables for young children.
