국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 한국과 미국의 중학교 교과서 기하영역의 구성을 비교하고 수학과제의 특성을 인지적 노력수준과 학생 응답 유형의 측면에서 비교 분석하는 것이 다. 이를 위해서 한국 중학교 교과서 2종과 미국 교과서 CMP3의 기하 영역 수학과 제를 분석하였다. 한국 교과서의 경우 과제의 배치가 분명하고 정형화된 틀 안에서 절차 수행을 강조하는 수학과제 비중이 높게 나타났다. 또한 학생응답 유형에 있어서 답만 제시하는 과제의 비중이 가장 높게 나타났다. 반면에, 미국 CMP3 교과서는 수학적 개념과 아이디어의 이해를 더 높은 수준으로 발전시키고 개념과 원리를 절차와 연결하여 이해하도록 돕는 수학과제를 비중 있게 제시하였다. 학습응답 유형에 있어서는 답과 근거/이유를 제시하거나 추론과정 전체를 기술하도록 요구하는 수학 과제의 비중이 높게 나타났다.

영문 초록

This study aims to comparatively examine mathematical tasks in middle school geometry of Kore and the US. For this purpose, we collected mathematical tasks from 2 Korean textbooks and Connected Mathematics 3 of the US and analyzed the tasks in terms of the levels of cognitive demand and the types of response that students are required to perform. The data analysis suggests that most of the mathematical tasks in Korean textbooks are at the level of low-level by focusing on applying procedures to find out right answers and require students to present answers without giving reasons or rationales. In contrast, the geometry tasks in CMP3 of the US appear dominantly at the high-level, especially, procedures with connections tasks that emphasize student understanding of underlying structure behind procedures. Also, the tasks in CMP3 seem to require students to give not only answers but the reasons or rationales, or the whole reasoning processes while performing the tasks.
