포털뉴스 편집오류와 불건전성에 대한 관계 분석

국문 초록

우리나라 포털업계에서 부동의 1위를 차지하고 있는 네이버의 뉴스서비스 ‘뉴스캐스트’는 그 영향력과 파급력으로 인해 사회적 관심의 대상이다. ‘뉴스캐스트’의 실제 모든 편집 권한과 책임은 각 언론사가 지니지만, 네이버측은 고질적인 기사 편집오류와 선정성을 포함하는 불건전한 콘텐츠 문제를 개선하기 위해 옴부즈맨 제도를 실시하고 있다. 본 연구는 2010년 한 해 동안 네이버 ‘뉴스캐스트’ 옴부즈맨 카페에 게시된 모니터링 자료를 바탕으로 ‘뉴스캐스트’와 관련해 지속적으로 제기되어 온 두 가지 문제 -기사(기사 제목 포함) 편집오류와 불건전성(선정성)- 사이에 어느 정도 연관이 있는지 알아봄으로써 우리나라 포털 뉴스의 실태와 문제점을 살피고자 하였다. 정준상관분석 결과 기사 편집오류와 불건전성 사이에 상관관계가 매우 높았으며, 각 집단 내 변수 사이의 상관관계도 역시 매우 높은 것으로 나타났다. 특히 기사 원문의 내용과 관련이 없는 제목을 붙이는 행위는 불건전성과 가장 유의한 연관성을 갖는 기사 편집오류의 유형으로 확인되었다. 이는 언론사의 고의적인 제목 편집오류가 불건전성과 매우 깊은 관련을 지닌다는 것을 알게 하는 것이다.

영문 초록

Naver, the front-running of the internet search engine industry in Korea has became a heavy weight ‘medium’ with news service to generate public opinion among a lot of internet users due to the ripple effect of social influence. However, there have had a continuous problems from a point of journalistic view, for examples posting a sensational titles to increase traffic to their own web sites. In this study, we used the yearly data of 2010 of the ‘Newscast Ombudsman’, monitoring system by Naver to investigate the actual situation and problems of the news provided by the internet search engine in Korea on the basis of the relationship between editorial errors (including article titles) and unsound (sensational) articles. By the result of the canonical correlation analysis, it is verified that editorial errors and the unsoundness are very highly correlated. In particular, article entitled that are not associated with the content of the original act was found to have the most significant association with the unsoundness of the article. That is, the media’s deliberate error of editing the title is very closely related to the unsound article.
