수반성 판단 상황에서 정보 유형의 주관적 중요도에 자기관련성과 동기가 미치는 영향

국문 초록

H-규칙과 같은 기존 연구흐름에 의하면, 인간의 인과추론 있어서 원인과 결과의 존재 및 부재가 만들어내는 4 가지 형태의 정보 중 ‘원인-결과 모두 존재’에 해당하는 정보 유형이 주로 사용되며 ‘원인-결과 모두 부재’에 관한 정보는 거의 사용하지 않는 것으로 알려져왔다. 그러나 본 연구에서는 자기관련성의 수준과 자기조절초점에 기반한 동기의 형태를 실험적으로 조작하여 이러한 개별적 정보 형태에 매우 차별적이고 선택적인 집중이 이루어져 있음을 탐색하고자 하였다. 실험 결과, 다른 조건들과는 달리 고자기관련성과 회피동기를 지닌 집단에서는 ‘원인-결과 모두 부재’에 해당하는 정보를 가장 중요하게 고려하는 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

Previous studies such as H-rule approach have suggested that reasoners exclusively focus on the information of co-existence of cause and result among the possible 4 types of information through existence and nonexistence of a cause and a result in their causal reasoning. In the current study, however, we demonstrated that reasoners differently use the types of information depending on the level of self-relatedness and the type of motivation such as self-regulatory focus. For this, we manipulated the two individual difference factors, and observed that those in the condition of high self-relatedness and avoidance motivation consider nonexistence of cause and result as the most important event information for their causal judgment unlike the other groups.
