인도의 영화음악 발전 양상에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 뮤지컬 형식의 영화로 사랑받았던 인도의 발리우드(Bollywood)에 사용되는 음악이 지닌 시장성과 파급력을 인식하였고, 독특한 영화음악 산업을 형성하게 된 계기를 알아보기 위해 영화음악의 발전 양상을 연구하고자 하였다. 이에 힌디어를 제외하고 총 18종 이상의 언어를 공용어로 사용하고 있는 인도 내에서는 언어적인 요소를 제외한 뮤지컬 형식의 영화가 발전할 수밖에 없었던 과거로부터 시작해 시대별로 영화음악 산업을 조사하였다. 1930년대에 ‘인도 영화음악’이라고 말할 수 있는 필미(filmi) 스타일이 탄생하였고, 1940년대에 이르러서는 영화음악의 황금기가 도래하였다. 이때에는 주로 배우 겸 가수로서 활동해야했던 과거의 제한적인 영화 제작 시스템이 개선되어 선 녹음 형태가 가능하게 되었고, 라타 망게슈카르(Lata Mangeshkar) 등의 스타 플레이백 가수가 등장하였다. 이어 2세대 음악가들이 활동했던 1970년대까지의 시대 배경과 영화의 음악적 특징을 다루고, 이른바 카세트 혁명이라고 하는 1980년대부터 2000년대까지 급격하게 성장한 영화음악 산업을 조사하였다. 2000년대 이후부터는 점차 뮤지컬 형태의 영화가 사라졌지만, 여전히 노랫말이 있는 대중음악을 제작하여 영화음악은 경제적인 성과를 내었고, 영화와 음악 산업이 서로 상생하는 형태를 이루고 있었다. 내재적으로는 음악이 서구화가 된 데에 있어 긍정적, 부정적 평가가 있지만, 경제적으로는 꾸준히 시장성을 유지하고 있음이 주목할 만하다. 세계의 다른 영화들도 뮤지컬 영화가 아니더라도 영화에 등장한 음악들이 대중들의 사랑을 받을 수 있도록 인도의 영화음악산업을 본보기로 삼아 경제력을 갖춘 콘텐츠를 제작할 수 있도록 영화와 음악 종사자들이 참고해야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

In this study, we investigated the developmental aspects of film music in order to recognize the market and the impact of music which loved as a musical style film used in Bollywood and to find out the moment that formed the unique industry of film music industry. For investigating this, we surveyed the film music industry by the age, starting from the past in India where had no alternative but to be developed musical films except for the linguistic elements because of being uses a total of 18 languages as a common language except for Hindi. In the 1930s, the style of filmi, which can be called Indian film music , was born and by 1940 s, the golden age of film music came. At this time, the limited film production system of the past which had to act mainly as an actor and singer improved to the form of pre-recording and appeared to star playback singer such as Lata Mangeshkar. Moreover, we studied the background and the musical features of the period until the 1970s, when led to the musicians in second generation, and investigated the film music industry, which has grown rapidly from the 1980s to the 2000s, the so - called cassette revolution. Since the 2000s, musical forms have gradually disappeared, but still popular songs with lyrics have been produced, resulting in achievements of economic aspect in film music, and the film and music industry are in a form of mutually reinforcing way. Implicitly, there are positive and negative evaluations of music becoming westernized, but it is noteworthy that its marketability is steadily maintained in economy. Other movies in the world, even if it is not a musical film, should be referenced the film music industry in Indian as an model by film and music practitioners so that they can produce contents with economic power and be loved the music in film by the public.
