특수교사를 통해 살펴본 장애학생 상담실태 및 활성화 방안

국문 초록

본 연구는 통합교육 상황의 장애학생을 교육하는 특수교사를 대상으로 장애학생 상담실태와 상담관련 인식, 상담 활성화 방해요인 및 상담서비스 활성화 방안을 조사하기 위해 수행되었다. 이를 위해 2019년 6월에서 8월에 걸쳐 경상남도 초·중등학교 특수교사 132명을 대상으로 설문조사를 하였다. 주요 결과는 첫째, 응답자의 대다수가 통합교육 상황의 장애학생 상담의 활성화 정도는 매우 낮으며 일반학생에 비해 상담서비스가 덜 제공되고 있다고 응답하였다. 둘째, 특수교사들이 상담을 의뢰하였거나 상담을 받는 것을 본 적이 있는 장애학생 유형은 지적장애, 정서·행동장애, 학습장애가 대다수였고, 주요 상담주제는 학교생활 적응력 향상, 대인관계기술 향상, 문제행동 수정, 부모/가족과의 갈등, 이성교제 관련문제, 우울/스트레스 해결이었다. 셋째, 대다수의 특수교사들은 장애학생 상담 담당자는 특수교사가 아닌 상담교사/상담사이며, 상담이 장애학생에게 도움이 될 것이라고 응답하였다. 넷째, 장애학생 상담 활성화 방해요인은 상담교사/상담사의 장애학생에 대한 지식/이해 부족, 장애학생의 의사소통/인지능력 부족, 상담교사/상담사의 장애학생은 상담대상이 아니라는 인식, 상담교사/상담사의 업무과다로 인한 장애학생 상담시간의 부족 등이었다. 다섯째, 장애학생 상담의 활성화 방안으로 상담교사/상담사의 장애학생 상담에 대한 인식전환, 장애학생에 대한 이해와 상담역량 강화, 특수교사의 상담교사/상담사와 소통 및 협력강화, 상담교사/상담사의 업무과다 문제해결, 장애학생 담당 전문상담사 양성 및 배치등을 제안하였다. 본 연구에서 도출된 결과를 바탕으로 논의하였으며 추후 연구를 위한 제언을 서술하였다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to investigate actual condition, perceptions, barriers, and activation strategies in counseling for students with disabilities in inclusive education via special education teachers. For the purpose, one hundred and thirty-two special education teachers from elementary or secondary schools in Gyeongsangnam-Do participated in this study. A survey was used to collect data over June to August in 2019. The main results were as follows. First, the majority of respondents answered the degree of counseling for students with disabilities was low, and counseling services for those students were less provided than regular students. Second, students provided with counseling in the higher rate were those who have intellectual disabilities, emotional or behavior disorders, learning disabilities, and the main counseling topics were improvement of school adaptation ability, improvement of social skills, behavior modification, and solving problems with parents, depression or stress. Third, majority of the teachers answered counselors are in charge of counseling for students with disabilities, and counseling will be helpful for those students. Fourth, the main barriers to counseling indicated were lack of counselors’ understanding and knowledge for those students, lack of communication or intelligence abilities of those students, counselors’ recognition that students with disabilities are not their clients, lack of counseling time for the students due to counselors’ excessive work. Fifth, activation strategies suggested were change of counselors’ recognition of counseling for students with disabilities, strengthening of counselors’ understanding about, and counseling ability for, students with disabilities, strengthening of cooperation between special education teachers and counselors, increase of counselors in schools, and training and placement of special counselors in charge of students with disabilities. Lastly, discussion based on the results and suggestions for further study were included.
