텍스트 마이닝을 활용한 서술형 강의평가 내용분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 학생들이 작성한 서술형 강의평가 내용에 대하여 학생 변인, 교과목 변인에 따라 어떤 특성이 있는지를 분석하여 구체적인 수업 개선을 위한 시사점을 도출하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 수도권 소재 A대학에서 2014년 1학기부터 2018년 1학 기까지 총 9학기 동안 이루어진 서술형 강의평가 결과를 2018년 9월에 수집하여, 강의평가 내용을 14가지 영역으로 구분하고 텍스트 마이닝(text mining) 분석기법을 활용하여 분석하였다. 전체 서술형 강의평가 내용분석 결과 가장 많이 언급되는 단 어는 의례적인 인사말을 구성하는 주요 단어를 제외하면 “재미”와 “어려움”이 상당히 높은 빈도로 강의평가에 등장하고 있었다. 서술형 강의평가 내용을 강의평가 영역으로 구분하여 분석한 결과 “전체적인 만족도”와 관련된 내용의 빈도와 비율이 가 장 높게 나타났다. 하지만 학생들의 관심도와 중요성 인식에 따라 평가영역별로 언급되는 비율이 달랐으며, 학생 특성, 교과목 특성에 따라서도 평가영역별 표현 빈도와 비율이 다름을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 학생들의 서술형 응답이 수업 개 선을 위한 의미 있는 자료로 활용이 가능하다는 것을 시사한다. 이에 분석결과를 바탕으로 수업 개선과 강의평가 시스템 개선을 위하여 제언하였다.

영문 초록

In order to improve the quality of the teaching through course evaluation, it is necessary to analyze and utilize the opinions of the students collected through the descriptive course evaluation in addition to the quantitative evaluation results. The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of students descriptive opinion according to student and subject factors and to suggest implications for the improvement of the quality of the teaching. For this purpose, the evaluation results of the descriptive course evaluation of A university were divided into 14 lecture evaluation analysis areas and analyzed using text mining analysis technique. As a result of analyzing the contents of the whole descriptive course evaluation, fun and difficulty appeared in the course evaluation with a high frequency. As a result of analyzing the evaluation contents of the descriptive course evaluation as the lecture evaluation areas, the frequency and proportion of the contents related to the overall satisfaction were the highest. However, students interest and perceptions of importance differed in the percentage referred to by the evaluation areas. It was confirmed that the frequency and proportion of the expression by the evaluation area were different according to the characteristics of the students and the subjects. These results suggest that students descriptive responses can be used as meaningful data for teaching improvement. Based on the results of the analysis, it was proposed to improve the quality of the teaching and course evaluation system.
