영문 초록
Kinabalu Park is one of the top ecotourism sites in Malaysia. Its central attraction is Mount Kinabalu, the highest peak in South-east Asia. The park is a biodiversity paradise with unparalleled ecology and endemic species. There are over 5,000 plants including orchids, ferns, Rhododendrons, Nepenthes, Rafflesia, and many others. However, development and tourism have brought negative effects on the environment. With its ―World Heritage‖site declared in December 2000, there has been rapid tourism development. The main challenges of the park are: Park Conservation; monitoring its carrying capacity; environmental and natural heritage protection; controlling environmental pollution; and ensuring sustainable development.
