영문 초록

Tourism is more than visiting historical sites, museums, theatres or indigenous communities – it is a means for a better understanding of other cultures. However, the learning processes are often unilateral. Travelers are gaining a deeper knowledge of the places they are visiting but the intercultural competencies of the people living there are not strengthened. Exchanges are even criticized as a threat to “original” cultures. 2010 is celebrated as the International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures. New aims need to be developed which promote mutual understanding. Strategies such as the Routes of Dialogue and the European Heritage Label will be discussed.
