고전 기반 웹툰의 성장서사로서의 가능성 탐구

국문 초록

본 연구는 고전서사를 기반으로 한 웹툰을 성장이라는 새로운 관점에서 접근하여, 단군신화를 소재로 한 웹툰<바로잡는순애보>가 원전을 어떻게 계승하고 있는지, 또 한편으로는 현대인의 삶의 맥락과 어떻게 연결 짓고 있는지를 성장의 차원에서 살펴봄으로써, 고전 기반 웹툰의 성장서사로서의 가능성을 탐구하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 성장서사로서 고전 기반 웹툰의 가능성을 살펴보기 위해, 2장에서 성장서사의 개념을 ‘미숙 불완 결핍의 존재가 성숙 완전 충족의 존재로 변화하는 과정에서의 인식과 실천을 다룬 서사’라는 넓은 관점으로 접근하고, 성장의 과정을 이끌어내기 위하여 통과의례 구조에 주목하였다. 3장에서는 성장서사가 지니는 ‘분리-전이-통합’이라는통과의례 구조를 중심으로 단군신화 소재 웹툰 <바로잡는순애보>가 원전을 어떻게 수용 및 변용하면서 성장서사의 구조를 어떠한 방식으로 구체화하고 있음을 분석하고, 인물별로 발견할 수 있는 성장의 양상들을 도출하였다. 마지막으로 4장에서는 성장서사 웹툰에서 고전이 원전으로서 어떠한 기여를 하는지를 향유자의 반응을 중심으로그 의미를 살펴보았다. 본 연구는 그간 웹툰 관련 연구에서 고전서사의 수용 및 변용 양상을 객관적으로 살피는 데 집중해 왔던 기존의 연구들과 시각을 달리하여, 성장서사의 관점에서 고전 기반의 웹툰을 재해석해봄으로써 고전서사 기반 웹툰 연구의 범위를 확대하고 원전으로서의 고전의 가치를 재발견하였다는 점에서 그 의의를 찾을 수 있다고 생각한다. 하지만 분석의 대상을 <바로잡는순애보>로 한정하여 고전서사를 기반으로 한 웹툰 전체로 확대하지 못하였다는점에서 일반화의 문제를 지니고 있다. 이에 후속 연구를 통해 보다 다양한 사례에 접근을 시도해봄으로써 원전으로서의 고전의 역할이 보다 견고해질 수 있도록 논의를 정교화해보고자 한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explore the possibility of classic-based webtoons as growth narratives by examining how Dangun Myth-based webtoon inherits the original text and connects them to the context of modern life. In order to examine the possibility of classic-based webtoons as a growth narrative, in Chapter 2, the study focused on the structure of passage rituals to lead to the process of growth and to approach the concept of growth from a broad perspective of “a narrative dealing with awareness and practice in the process of maturity, completion, and deficiency.” In Chapter 3, the study analyzed how accept and transform the original text and derives aspects of growth that can be found by each person focusing on the structure of growth narrative, Dangun Mythology webtoon analyzes how to accept and transform the original text and derives aspects of growth that can be found by each person. Finally, in Chapter 4, the meaning of the growth narrative webtoon was examined, focusing on the reaction of the enjoyers to see how classics contribute as the original text. This study is significant in that it expands the scope of classical narrative-based webtoon research and rediscover the value of classics as a original text by reinterpreting classical webtoons from the perspective of growth narrative. However, there is a problem of limitation of generalization in that the subject of analysis was limited to and it could not be expanded to the entire webtoon based on classical narrative. Therefore, by attempting to approach more diverse cases through follow-up studies, the discussion will be elaborated so that the role of the classics can be more solid.
