국문 초록

한국문학 영역에서 외국어 텍스트의 문제가 가장 본격적으로 논의되는 시점은 1900년대를 전후한 근대일 것이다. 근대의 혼종적 특질과 더불어 외국어 기술의 등장은 시기와 장르의 정체성을 구축하는 사건이 될 수도 있으며, 따라서 일관된 틀을 고찰하는 것은 흥미로운 작업이 될 것이다. 다시 말하면 한국문학 연구의 영역에서 외국어로 기술된 텍스트를 다루는 것은 조금 다른 차원의 접근을 요하는 것이며, 한문의 위상과는 다른 ‘외국어’ 텍스트에 접근하는 것은 더욱 면밀한 차원의 방법론을 필요로 할 것이다. 고전 번역이라는 보편적인 주제와는 별개로 설화의 외국어 기술은 유표적인 특징을 가지게 된다. 따라서 이를 읽어내기 위한 방법론을 독립적으로 고찰할 필요가 있으며 이것은 1900년대 외국어 설화집의 독립적 리터러시로 명명할 수도 있겠다. 이것이 1900년대 전후 출판된 외국어 설화집 읽기의 독립적 방법론을 구축하는 당위이다. 이는 외국어의 의미적 층위와 설화에서의 이중적 번역의 인식, 또한 내적언어와 외적언어라는 용어를 통해 기술된 설화 인식의 프레임을 중심으로 구축될 것이다. 또한 개작의 양상을 통해 한국설화가 문화적 경계를 넘어 개별 저자들에게 어떻게 인식되었는지를 추론한다. 그 통합적 인식을 통해 1900년대 외국어 설화집 읽기의 체계적 방법론을 구축하고자 하는 것이 본고의 목표이다.

영문 초록

This essay will focus on the constructing methodology of Korean tale collections described by foreign languages in 1900s. The issue of translation has become important in 1900s because the border and the cultural boundary was getting collapsing. Therefore, translations of Korean classics in literary research need more systematic methodology and more specifically, the approach to folktale-translations is necessary to be separated from the general one of Korean classics. In this essay, folktale-translations are based on the double-translation aspects: the transformation of language and contents, but also the interpretation of them. In addition, the starting language of the author and the arriving language of the description make the perception frame of objects, the Korean tales. The directions of adaptation consist of the individual identity of Korean tales by each authors, finally these elements can signify the multi-layered structure of translated Korean tale collections. Translated literary texts present not only translation itself, but also trans-cultural action. This expansion should be considered with the new cognition of Korean classics and Korean tales. Therefore, based on the new perspective, it is important to create the systematized methodology of Korean tales research.
