국문 초록

우리 국어교육에서는 연구자가 수업을 설계하고 이에 대해 실제 교실에 적용하는 연구들은 쉽게 찾아볼 수 있지만, 자신이 실행한 연구를 바탕으로 기존의 연구방법론을 발전시킨 사례는 찾아보기 어렵다. 이 연구에서 형성적 설계 연구방법론에 주목한 것은 교실에서 연구를 실행하던 연구자들이 기존의 연구방법론에 한계를 느껴 새롭게 태동시킨 연구방법론이란 점이다. 이 연구는 북미권 교육 연구에서 대안적 연구방법론으로 나타난 형성적 설계 연구방법론의 등장 배경 및 핵심적인 원리와 절차, 남겨진 연구방법론적 쟁점 탐구를 목적으로 한다. 급변하는 시대에 국어교육 내 연구방법론을 정치하게 발전시키기 위하여 연구방법론 실행 과정에서 고려할 질문 및 연구방법론적 쟁점들을 도출하는 것은 주요한 작업이다. 이 연구는 국어과 교실 기반 설계를 수행하는 과정에서 연구자가 고려할 만한 질문과 쟁점을 제시한다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 남겨진 연구방법론적 과제로는 교육 이론을 다층적으로 재개념화하는 문제, 교육 현장을 하나의 생태계로 접근할 때 다루는 요인의 범위를 한정하는 문제, 연구자와 교사의 다양한 협업 가능성을 구체화하는 문제를 제시하였다. 이후 교육 현장에서 이루어지는 연구들을 통하여 국어교육을 위한 설계 연구방법론이 정교화되기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

This study aimed at investigating the major principles, research procedures, and remaining controversial issues about formative and design experiments as a methodology in order to explore directions for classroom-based design research in Korean education. The major principles drawn from the emergence of this alternative methodology are establishing educational goals from students’ problems or difficulties in actual educational contexts and designing educational practices to achieve those goals. Other major principles include approaching educational contexts with an ecological stance, finding enhancing and inhibiting factors for educational practices, and re-designing educational practices based on retrospective. In Korean education, there has been some research that has already applied some of these principles. However, a main limitation is that we have not developed these principles as a methodology and have not achieved any consensus about classroom-based design research. Considering the constant call for developing methodologies in Korean education, we need to put efforts into developing a methodology by making clear its logic of inquiry. This study contributes by providing questions and remaining controversial issues that we can carefully consider while developing a methodology for classroom based design research.
