무성영화를 활용한 대학 글쓰기 교육 모형 연구

국문 초록

본고는 무성영화(silent film)를 글쓰기 수업에 활용하여 학습자들의 빈자리 (Leerstelle) 추론 능력을 함양하고, 추론한 내용을 시사적 글쓰기로 연결하는 수업 모형을 모색하고자 하였다. 텍스트의 빈자리를 추론하는 능력의 함양은 단지 무성영화의 내용을 이해하는 데 쓰이는 것으로 그치지 않고 다양한 종류의 텍스트 해석에 확장·응용될 수 있다. 대학 글쓰기 교육이 지향하는 창의·소통·탐구·분석·논증의 목표에 도달하기 위해서는 텍스트 전체의 맥락을 읽어나가며 의미의 빈자리를 채울 수 있는 능력의 함양이 필요하다. 본고에서 방법적 틀로 제시한 수용미학 이론은 수용자의 능동적인 독서 행위를 이끌어낸다는 점에서 글쓰기 교육에 적극적으로 활용될 수 있다. 수용자의 상상력으로 작품의 미확정 영역을 채워가는 Roman Ingarden과 Wolfgang Iser의 수용미학 이론은 불분명한 텍스트로부터 의미를 도출해 낼 지점을 포착하고, 이 포착된 지점을 전체 문맥과 연결지어 이해하는 작업을 중요하게 인식한다. 이에 본고는 잉가르덴의 미정성(Unbestimmtheit) 개념과 이저의 부정성(Negativität) 개념을 도입하여 학습자들에게 복합적인 의미를 담고 있는 텍스트를 해석하는 능력과 특정 상황을 문제적으로 바라보고 이를 해결해 나가는 능력이 함양될 계기를 마련하였다. 이러한 학습자들의 문제의식은 시사적 글쓰기의 주제로 연계되면서 문제에 대한 해결 방안을 진지하게 모색하는 단계로까지 나아갈 수 있다. 본고의 수업 모형은 능동적인 텍스트 해석 과정과 다각도에서 텍스트를 사고하는 과정을 학습하는 계기가 된다. 이를 통한 빈자리 추론 능력의 향상은 특히 텍스트의 전체 내용 파악에 실패하여 의미 생성의 과정으로 진입하는 데 어려움을 느끼는 학습자들에게 매우 유의미한 학습 과정이 될 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study would seek a model of instruction to promote the learners’ ability to infer Leerstelle and connect the contents they infer to suggestive writing, utilizing silent films in the writing class. The cultivation of the ability to infer Leerstelle in texts can be extended and applied to the interpretation of texts in various kinds, not being content with being used for the understanding of the contents of the silent films. To reach the goals, such as creativity, communication, inquiry, analysis, and demonstration at which college writing education aims, it is necessary to cultivate the ability to fill the meaning of Leerstelle, reading the contexts of the whole text. The theory of reception aesthetics presented as a methodical framework in this study can be actively utilized in writing education in that it draws a recipient’s active reading activity. The theory of reception aesthetics of Roman Ingarden and Wolfgang Iser, which fills the undefined area of the work with the recipient’s imagination, captures the point at which a meaning would be drawn from uncertain texts and attaches importance to the work of understanding this point captured in connection to the whole context. Thus, this study prepared a momentum to promote the learners’ ability to interpret texts containing complex meanings and look at and resolve specific situations critically, introducing Ingarden’s concept of Unbestimmtheit and Iser’s concept of Negativität. Learners’ critical mind like this can go to the stage of seriously seeking the solutions to problems as it is connected to the topic of suggestive writing. The model of instruction in this study is a momentum to learn the process of interpreting texts actively and the process of thinking texts from multiple perspectives. The improvement of the ability to infer Leerstelle through this can be a very significant learning process for the learners who fail in understanding the overall contents of texts and find it difficult entering the process of creating meanings.
