국문 초록

매천의 자연관이 그의 문학 작품 속에 어떻게 투영되었는가를 고찰하여, 매천 자연시의 특성을 추출하는 것이 본 논의의 목적이다. 나아가 근대문학의 주요 특성인 개별화가 매천의 자연시에서는 어떻게 드러나고 있으며, 리얼리즘의 토대가 되는 장소성이 작품에 어떻게 수용되었는가를 밝힘으로써 매천의 자연시에 투영되어 있는 근대성이 매천 자연시의 주요한 특성이라는 것을 논의하였다. 매천 자연시는 조선조 사대부들의 보편적인 자연시와는 확연한 차이가 보인다. 먼저 매천 자연시에는 조선조 사대부의 자연시에서 항상 보이는 관념적 자연이 존재하지 않는다. 매천에게 자연은 항상 실경 그 자체였다. 매천의 자연시에는 修己가 보이지 않는다. 忠孝도 없고 五常도 없다. 매천의 자연시에는 사실적 자연이 존재한다. 또한 자연을 인간에 종속된 대상이 아니라 조화를 추구해야 하는 대상물로 인식하고 있다. 이것이 매천 자연시의 중요한 특성이다. 매천 자연시의 특성은 살펴본 바와 같이 소재의 변화와, 소재에 대한 인식의 변화에 기초하여 그 특별함을 획득하였던 것이다. 매천의 자연시에는 또한 장소의 시화가 두드러진다. 특정 공간이 특정 장소로 변화하고 있는 것이다. 전통 한시에서 이러한 공간이 전혀 부재한 것은 아니다. 다만 그러한 공간은 금강산, 지리산 등 아주 특수한 공간에 한정되어 있으며, 작품 수 역시 제한되어 있다. 공간 자체가 장소성을 획득하고 그 장소 자체가 시적 소재가 되는 것은 도학적 자연관에서는 불필요한 일이기 때문이다. 관념이 아니라 현실 속의 장소가 시적 소재가 되어야 할 이유가 없었기 때문이다. 매천 자연시는 자연관의 변화, 즉, 도학적 자연관인 관념 속의 자연을 버리고, 자연을 수기의 대상이 아닌 함께 조화를 추구해야 할 대상으로 보았다. 이러한 인식의 변화는 자연시의 소재를 한정하지 않고 주위의 모든 자연물을 대상으로 詩化를 가능케 하였다. 특히 특정 공간을 공간이 아닌 장소의 개념으로 인식한 것이 그의 자연시의 주요한 특성이다.

영문 초록

It is the purpose of this discussion to extract the nature of Maecheon Natural poetry, considering how the Natural Exhibition of Maecheon was portrayed in his works. Furthermore, in the nature of modern literature, the nature of modern literature is revealed in the nature of Maecheon, and the nature of realism is explained by the fact that the fortress is the predominant characteristic of Mother Nature in the nature of Maecheon s natural poetry. Maecheon Natural poetry is a stark contrast to the general nature of the nobility of the Joseon Dynasty. First of all, the nature of nature does not exist in the natural surroundings of the Joseon Dynasty. Mother Nature was always a natural sight for Maecheon. The natural beauty of Maecheon does not show up. There is no filial piety and no dignity. Mother Nature naturally exists in Maecheon s natural poetry. It is also recognized as a subject for harmonizing harmony with nature rather than being subjected to human beings. This is an important characteristic of Maecheon natural poetry.
