국문 초록

현대 사회는 다양한 영역이 서로 이질적으로 분화되고 전문화된 사회이다. 이런 사회에서 생존을 영위해야 하는 인간의 삶도 역시 분절되었다. 인간은 그가 속한 특정한 분야에 살면서 다른 영역과는 아무런 관계없이 고립적인 삶을 살고 있다. 현시대의 문제점이 지식의 분업화, 전문화로 요약되듯이 실러는 18세기 이후 산업 사회에 들어오면서 인간성도 감성과 오성으로 분화되었고, 이 둘의 부조화가 프랑스 혁명의 야만성으로 결과하였다고 보았다. 따라서 인륜적 사회의 건설을 위해 인간 품성에 대한 총체적 이해를 회복할 필요하다고 본다. 그리고 실러는 문제의 해결은 제도나 정치 개혁에 의한 것이 아니라 아름다움과 미적 교육에 의해 가능하다고 주장한다. 따라서 실러의 미적 교육의 사상을 살펴보기 위해, 제2장에서 우선 실러의 연극 옹호론을 살펴볼 것이다. 실러는 개인과 사회 발전을 촉구할 수 있는 수단을 예술에서 찾는다. 따라서 예술을 반대한 플라톤과 루소에 대한 실러의 비판과 연극 효용론을 살펴볼 것이다. 제3장에서는 실러가 프랑스 혁명의 이념을 긍정적으로 평가했음에도 혁명을 실패로 판정한 이유를 살펴본다. 이어서 사회의 분업화에 따른 인간의 자기 소외 현상을 살펴볼 것이다. 제4장에서는 미적 교육을 통한 총체적 인간성의 형성에 대해 살펴볼 것이다. 실러는 산업사회의 인간은 기형적 인간이 된다고 보았다. 따라서 아름다움에 의한 미적 교육을 통해 일깨워진 유희충동의 특성과 미적 인간에 대해 살펴볼 것이다. 마지막으로 나오는 말에서, 『미적 교육』이 범한 모순과 이것의 해결을 위한 방안을 모색하면서 결론을 대신할 것이다.

영문 초록

This paper aims to comprehend the theory of Schiller’s aesthetical education. According to Schiller, modern society is separated and specialized respectively in various fields. Like modern society, human’s life in our society is also divided into various forms. Man lives in an isolated situation without having relation to other field. Just as the contemporary problem of modern time epitomized as for the knowledge of division and specialization after 18th century, human’s nature and understanding both ensued from the industrial society and consequentially was in result of inconsistency from the French Revolution. So for the construction of human society, we need to understand what the nature is in total. Schiller insisted that it is the beauty and aesthetical education to solve these problems not by institute and revolution. So that in this paper I try to find Schiller’s theory of drama to understand his educational thought. We know that Schiller encouraged us the ways in art to establish individuals and society. For this purpose, I scrutinize Schiller’s defense of drama against Plato and Rousseau. The other thing here I must study is the reason why Schiller justified French Revolution as failure because he validated the notion of it as a positive one. This idea connects the division of society and estrangement of human to the formation of humanity totally through the aesthetical education. Therefore, Schiller suggested that the deformity of human came from industrial society without beauty and aesthetical education.
