지역축제의 주제공연 성공전략 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 지역사회에 이바지하는 대표적 축제들의 공연콘텐츠인 주제공연의 발 전방향을 모색하고자 한다. 지역의 문화와 연관성이 있는 스토리를 설정하여 집객의 성공을 유도하기 위해 주제공연이 이루어지고 있으며, 메인콘텐츠는 연극, 무용, 뮤지컬, 클래식음악, 대중음악, 넌버벌 퍼포먼스 등의 장르가 있다. 현재까지 이와 같은 주제공연에 참가한 적이 있는 관객 50명을 대상으로 장르별 공연에 대한 인식을 조사하여 적합성 분석 및 문제점을 도출하고자 하였다. 나아가 비교적 역사가 오래되고 지속적으로 개최되고 있는 대표 축제 중 ‘제 63회 백제문화제’의 주제공연과, 세계의 우수한 공연콘텐츠라 할 수 있는 ‘태양의 서커스’, ‘블루맨 그룹’ 등의 특징을 파악하고자 하였다. 이를 토대로 주제공연 그 자체를 성공시킬 수 있다는 가능성을 제시하고 성공적인 메인콘텐츠로서 육성할 수 있는 방안을 모색하였다. 지역축제의 주제공연은 연관성 찾기와 스토리텔링의 부재, 상업성 결여, 지역화(Localization)의 실패 CT(Culture Technology)의 인식 부족, 멀티미디어에 대한 인식 부족, 지역민과의 상호작용(Interaction)의 부재 등의 문제점을 드러내고 있었다. 본 논문에서는 이를 바탕으로 주제공연에서 메인 주제에 맞는 스토리텔링을 완성하는 것, 상상력의 부재를 해결하기 위한 기존의 소재를 찾고 주제와 연관된 스토리로 다양한 공연콘텐츠로 제작하는 것, 상호작용 요소를 추가하여 관객과 소통하게 만드는 것, 참여형 공연으로 지역민과의 교류를 확대하여 정체성을 확립하는 것, 축제에서 주제공연의 비중을 높이고 다양한 발전방향을 수립하는 것 등 다양한 발전전략을 도출하였다. 추후 이러한 지역축제의 주제공연에 대한 지속적인 연구를 통해 보다 나은 공연콘텐츠의 발전과 지역축제의 발전이 이루어졌으면 한다.

영문 초록

This study is designed to explore development plan of performances with theme as performing contents for representative festivals which contribute to local society. The performances set stories related to local culture to induce tourists and are staged. For genres of the performances, there are play, dance, musical, classical music, pop music, non-verbal performance, and etc. The audiences totaling 50 people, who have ever watched the performances with theme, were studied for recognition for performances by genre to draw the suitability analysis and problem. This study also intended to determine the characteristics of the performances at the 63rd Baekje Cultural Festival , one of the old and constantly held representative festivals, and of Cirque du Soleil and Blue Man Group , which are the outstanding shows in the world. Building off of this, this study considered the possibility to make the shows itself a great success and sought ways to foster the show. The problems of the performances at local festival have been identified as following: No connection to local culture, Absence of storytelling, Lack of commercial potential, Failure to Localization, Ignorance of CT(Culture Technology) and multimedia, and Lack of local interaction. Based on this data, this paper initiated many different ways to improve: Make storytelling fit the main theme. Look for ideas and offer a variety of content using theme related stories. Add interactivity elements to interact with audience. Expand local exchanges through engaging shows to establish identity. Place more importance on the performances and advance further plans. Continuous studies on performances with theme at local festival are needed afterward for growth of performing contents and local festivals.
