유아 대상 뉴스 리터러시 교육에 대한 인식 및 실태

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 유아 대상 뉴스 리터러시 교육 방안을 모색하기 위하여 영유아교사의 뉴스 리터러시 교육에 대한 인식 및 실태를 조사하고자 하는 것이다. 연구의 대상은 2017년에 진행된 뉴스 리터러시 관련 연수에 참여한 대도시 지역 소재 영유아 교육기관에 근무하는 교사이며, 총 229부가 회수되어 그 중 182부를 분석하였다. 설문지는 35문항으로 구성되었다. 연구결과 첫째, 뉴스리터러시 관련 유아 교사의 실태와 관련하여 영유아교사들의 뉴스 관심도는 높지 않은 편이며, 교육 활용도 역시 높 지 않았다. 둘째 유아 대상 뉴스 리터러시 교육의 필요성 및 현장 적용가능성에 대한 인식과 관련하여 교사들은 뉴스 리터러시 교육이 영유아에게 필요하며 영·유아의 문자해독능력, 교사 지식 및 기술 부족, 연수 및 워크숍 기회 부족, 등의 이유로 현장에 적용하기 어렵다고 인식하고 있었다. 셋째, 유아 대상 뉴스 리터러시 교육과정 구성및 운영에 대한 인식과 관련하여 뉴스 리터러시 교육의 활성화를 위해 교육의 목표는 일상생활 속 뉴스를 친숙하게 느낄 수 있도록 하는 것, 교육 방법으로는 생활 주제와 연관이 있을 때마다 실시하는 것, 교수-학습 방법으로는 토의, 교육의 내용으로는 뉴스의 필요성에 대해 알아보는 것을 중점으로 교육과정을 구성하는 것이 효과적이라고 인식하고 있었다. 뉴스 리터러시 관련 연수가 있을 경우 대다수의 교사가 참여할 것이라고 응답하였으며, 실제 적용 사례에 대한 소개에 대한 내용이 연수의 내용으로 다루어지길 원했으며, 다양하고 구체적인 수업 방법에 대한 요구도가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 유아 대상 뉴스 리터러시 교육 활성화를 위한 교육방향 제시 및 유아교육 현장의 실천을 위한 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate perception and status of news literacy education of early childhood teachers in order to seek teaching method of news literacy education. The participants of the study were 182 early childhood teachers who worked in early childhood institutions, and the questionnaires consisted of 35 items. First, not only the level of interests on news which is part of general inclination of early childhood education was low, but also utilization of news literacy education were not high, regarding news in education and perception on news literacy education. Second, early childhood teachers recognized that news literacy education is necessary early childhood, concerning the necessity of news literacy education for young children and the perception of possibility for the field of early childhood education. Also, they considered news literacy education is difficult to apply for early childhood education due to lack of opportunities to take part in training and workshop, lack of techniques and knowledge of early childhood teachers, and literacy of young children. Third, the participants responded that curriculum has to be constructed as follows; 1) the goal of the education is help early childhood become familiar with news in a daily routine. 2)news literacy education needs to be conducted in terms of teaching method. 3) teaching-learning method process is discussion. 4) the contents of the education is to investigate the necessity of news, in regards to construction of news literacy education curriculum and perception of management. Most of participants responded they would participate in training on news literacy education, and requested practical contents and detailed teaching methods. The result of the study will be used for foundation of educational indicator and that invigorates news literacy education for early childhood education.
