18세기 山林 處士의 향촌 생활 지침서 『山林經濟』의 성격과 의의

국문 초록

18세기 초에 洪萬選이 편찬한 『山林經濟』는 총 16개 항목으로 구성되어 있다. 『산림경제』의 편찬 경위, 구성제제 등을 검토하고 16개 항목의 전체 내용을 분석하였다. 홍만선이 지은 [山林經濟序], 홍만종의 「山林經濟序」, 그리고 16개 항목의 [序]를 분석 검토하였다. 『산림경제』 16개 항목 가운데 일상의 일반적이고 평범한 생활에 관련된 5개 항목을 묶어서 살펴볼 수 있다. 산림처사의 일상생활에서 가장 기본이 되는 ‘먹고 사는 문제’와 관련된 起居에 해당하는 卜居, 飮食 조리에 해당하는 治膳(備膳), 올바른 보양과 복식의 방법을 정리한 攝生, 일상생활과 생산활동 등 모든 활동의 吉凶을 판정하는 행동과 연관되는 選擇(涓吉), 마지막으로 文房四友 등에 관한 잡다한 내용으로 엮여 있는 雜方, 이렇게 5개 항목을 ‘일상 생활의 규율 정립’으로 분류하여 살펴보았다. 다음으로 산림처사의 경제적 기반과 관련된 생산활동 관련 항목을 하나로 묶어서 살펴볼 수 있는데, 광의로 농업생산과 연결된다. 곡물 경작, 채소 재배, 나무 기르기, 꽃 키우기, 누에치기, 가축 사육에 각각 해당하는 『산림경제』의 治農, 治圃, 種樹, 養花, 養蠶, 牧養, 이렇게 6개 항목을 ‘생산 활동의 지남 제시’로 묶을 수 있다. 마지막으로 향촌생활을 영위하면서 긴급한 상황을 준비하고 예방하거나 치유 행위 등의 지침을 제시하는 것과 보다더 긴밀하게 관련된 항목으로 치유와 예방의 근원적인 지식과 정보에 해당하는 治藥(理藥), 그리고 救急, 救荒, 辟瘟, 辟蟲 이렇게 5개 항목을 ‘치료 및 예방의 지침 정리’로 묶어서 살펴볼 수 있다.

영문 초록

The book “Sanrimgyeongje” compiled by Hong Man-seon (1643- 1715) in the early 18th century was not simply a book on agriculture, but a book that systematically compiled and organized various knowledge and information that a ruling class scholar should know in country everyday life. In the text, the compilation history and composition system of the book “Sanrimgyeongje” were intensively reviewed and 16 items were broadly classified into three categories. He reviewed 5 items, ‘establishing discipline in daily life’, related to the ordinary and routine daily life of a ruling class scholar. He compiled articles that consider both the economic feasibility of reality and the good and bad aspects of the direction. The economic basis of forest management and production activities related to crop cultivation, vegetable cultivation, tree cultivation, flower cultivation, silkworm raising, and livestock raising were classified into six items, each corresponding to ‘presentation of production activities’, 6 items. As it is thought to be closely related to preparing for and preventing emergency situations or providing guidelines for treatment, etc., five items corresponding to the fundamental knowledge and information on treatment and prevention were grouped together as a ‘Summary of Treatment and Prevention Guidelines’. Although “Sanrimgyeongje” was not published as a woodblock print, countless hand-copied and manuscript copies were made and distributed. In the future, we plan to carry out detailed analysis, organization, follow-up research, and new translation work on all items of the 16 items of “Sanrimgyeongje” as our future tasks.
