애니메이션 <신서유기:몽키킹의 부활(大聖歸來)>로 살펴본 포스트 혁명시대의 중국식 슈퍼히어로 - 손오공 형상을 중심으로

국문 초록

본고는 명대 소설 『서유기』를 각색한 2015년 중국 애니메이션 <신서유기> 속 과거, 현재, 미래에 따라 변화하는 손오공 형상을 분석하였다. 과거 애니메이션 <대요천궁>과 달리, <신서유기> 속 강류아의 아버지는 천궁을 어지럽힌 손오공의 행동을 부적절한 것으로 기억하며 마오 시대에 대한 새로운 태도를 보여준다. 또한, 과거 현장의 이야기가 ‘대요천궁’과 단절되었던 원작과 달리, 강류아는 여전히 ‘대요천궁’의 시대 속에 살고 있다. 이는 현재가 혁명과 단절된 것이 아니라 혁명과 영향을 주고받는 포스트혁명 시대라는 것을 보여준다. <신서유기> 속 그는 강력한 힘을 지닌 초인이었으나, 점차 그 힘을 이용하여 정의를 구현하는 슈퍼히어로로 성장하게 된다. 강류아는 비록 뛰어난 힘과 좋은 신분을 지니지 않았지만, 손오공을 올바르게 인도하는 인민영웅의 면모를 보여준다. 작품은 이 둘의 화합을 통해 슈퍼히어로 ‘대성’을 완성하고, 새로운 중국 영웅을 보여주었다.

영문 초록

This research takes the 2015 Chinese film Monkey King: Hero Is Back as its subject, analyzing the image of Sun Wukong, which changes with the passage of time encompassing the past, present, and future. First, in an animation film called Havoc in Heaven, Sun Wukong’s rebellion is affirmed as to rebel is justified by the new socialist man. In Monkey King: Hero Is Back, Jiang Liuer’s father remembers Sun Wukong’s behavior as disruptive of the Heavenly Palace, which reflects a new attitude toward the Mao Era. Through R. Barthest’s conception of mythologies, we can argue that the scenes in Monkey King: Hero Is Back that are similar to those in Havoc in Heaven represent a fresh evaluation of the Mao Era. In addition, unlike the original works, Monkey King features a historical background of its influential relationship with Havoc, indicates that the present is still imagined as a post-revolutionary era. Second, a helpless Sun Wukong is labeled a “monkey” by Zhu Bajie, whereas Jiang Liuer called him of “Great Sage.” It reflects the subject and the self in Lacan’s symbolic realm, the imaginative realm. Sun Wukong, who wears the tightening spell of golden headband, is merely a monkey, but Jiang Liuer believes that Sun Wukong can save children and bring peace to the village. In the end, mourning the passing of Jiang Liuer, Sun Wukong becomes the “Great Sage” that he had hoped for. In the past, he was an Übermensch with great power. But with guidance from Jiang Liuer, he transforms into a superhero who hopes to embody justice through this power. As a people’s hero, Jiang Liuer, although lacking outstanding strength and a good identity, correctly guides Sun Wukong. Thereby, the superhero “Great Sage” become a new Chinese hero.
