국문 초록

본 연구는 자시다와의 소설 『티베트, 은밀한 세월(西藏, 隱秘歲月)』을 분석하여 티베트의 숨겨진 역사와 티베트인의 정체성에 대해 고찰하였다. 우선, 티베트의 근현대사 속에서 소설의 주인공 츠런지무와 다랑이 어떻게 갈등하며 살아가는지 살펴보았다. 그들은 티베트 역사 속 중요한 순간마다 함께했고, 그들의 삶은 긴 역사의 흐름 속에서 진실과 허구가 뒤섞인 채로 펼쳐진다. 또한 영국인 탐험가, 미군, 중국인민해방군, 인민공사 등 외부 세력의 침입과 지배 속에서 티베트인들이 겪는 정체성의 혼란과 저항의 모습을 살펴보았다. 급격한 시대적 변화와 외부의 압력에도 불구하고 티베트인들이 끝까지 지켜야 했던 것은 그들의 종교적 신념이었음을 알 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study examines the hidden history of Tibet and the Tibetan experience of time through Tashi Dawa’s 1985 work “Tibet, The Secret Years”. Tashi Dawa illuminates the lives of Tibetans within the context of modern Tibetan history and analyzes how the hardships and periods of change they experienced impacted their identity. Firstly, the study provides a brief overview of the modern history of Tibet, the backdrop of the novel, and explores how the protagonists, Chirenjimu and Dalang, survived and lived in the primitive land of Tibet depicted in the text. They were present during significant moments in Tibetan history, and their lives are depicted as a blend of fiction and reality within the extended historical narrative. Finally, the study examines the resistance and issues of identity faced by Tibetans under external pressures. For Tibetans, whose fate was influenced by external forces such as British explorers, American transport planes, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, and the People’s Communes, their religious beliefs were the last bastion they needed to protect.
