국문 초록

이 글의 목적은 외국인 유학생의 학술글을 분석하여 문제점을 확인하고, 이를 해결하기 위한 과제를 살펴보는 것이다. 외국인 유학생들은 학술글에 요구되는 내용과 구성요소들을 갖춘 글쓰기 단계까지는 나아갔다. 다만, 학술글의 형태가 갖추어졌다고 하더라도, 질적으로 더 좋은 글이되기 위해 비판적으로 살펴야 할 문제점들이 있었으며, 각 문제들은 또한 수업과 첨삭, 토의를 통해 해결해야 할 과제를 남겼다. 특히 유학생들이 하나의 연구자로서 대학생활을 이어갈 수 있는 역량을 갖추기 위해서는 자신의 생각을 분명하게 표현하고논증하는 연습이 무척 중요한데, 이 부분에서는 질적 완성도가 대체로 낮은 모습을 보이기도 하였다. 본고에서는 주제의 예각화, 제목과 목차의 학술적 용어 사용, 서론의매끄러움과 풍부한 배경논의, 본론의 자료와 논증의 적절성, 인용과 참고문헌의 정확한 표기 등을 중요한 문제로 짚어 설명하였다. 유학생들의 글에 드러나는 문제점을 개선하기 위해 본고에서는 앞으로의 과제와수업 시간에 수행할 일을 제안하였다. 이는 학생들이 스스로 자신의 주제에 대해 명확한 이해를 바탕으로 논증의 과정을 연습하고, 그 과정에서 강의와 첨삭 등의 도움을받을 수 있게 하여, 자료 찾기와 학술 글쓰기의 양식 등에 더 익숙해지도록 유도하는일 등을 포함한다. 이처럼 문제를 점검하고 해결해가는 과정을 통해 외국인 유학생들의 학술글이 질적으로 성장하는 데에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This study is to analyze the academic writings of foreign students, identify is sues, and examine tasks to address and resolve them. Foreign students have progressed to the point of incorporating almost all the required content and components of academic writing. However, despite achieving this academic writing structure, critical issues need to be examined to qualitatively improve the writing. These issues remain to be addressed through classes, tutoring, and discussions. In particular, to develop the capability of a scholar, it is crucial to clearly express one's thoughts and argue coherently. This study discusses several important issues that need to be addressed, such as sharpening the focus of the subject, academic words used in titles and tables of contents, a smooth introduction and rich background discussion, appropriate data and argumentation in the body, and accurate citation and referencing. To address and improve the issues evident in the writing of foreign students, this study proposes tasks and activities to be implemented in future assignments and during class. This involves enabling students to practice argumentation by having a clear understanding of their own topics and providing assistance, such as lectures and writing corrections throughout this process. Moreover, it encourages students to familiarize themselves with tasks, such as finding sources and adhering to academic writing formats. Using this process, it is possible to contribute to the qualitative growth of academic writing produced by foreign students.
