국문 초록

이 연구는 읽기 유창성과 자기 조절학습 방법에 초점을 맞추어 초등학교 영어 학습부진 학생의 초기 문해력 발달에 관하여 자기조절학습의 효과에 대해 연구하고자 하였다. 단일대상연구는 세명의 영어 학습부진학생을 대상으로 하였고, 연구대상자들은 초등학교 5-6학년이었다. 전체 연구는 8주의 기간으로, 연구수업은 주당 3회씩 실행하였고 각각의 수업은 평균 50분 가량 진행되었다. 연구수업의 중재 기간동안, 세 학습자는 7권의 그림책을 사용하여 수업하고 영어 어휘학습을 하고 책의 내용읽기를 하였다. 자기조절학습을 적용하며, 중재 기간동안 학습자의 읽기 유창성과 학습태도에서의 변화를 관찰하였다. 결과적으로 연구에 참여한 세 학생 모두에게서 읽기 유창성을 포함한 그들의 영어초기 문해력이 향상하였다. 더욱이 연구수업의 끝에는, 학생들이 학습태도와 그들의 자기조절학습 전략들의 사용에 관하여 긍정적인 변화들을 나타냈다. 나아가 본 연구에서 자기조절학습과 읽기 유창성 및 영어수업에서의 학습 부진학생에 관한 교육적 함의들에 대해도 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims to examine the effects of self-regulated learning on underachieving elementary school students’ early literacy development focusing on reading fluency and self-regulated learning skills. A single subject research was employed with three English underachievers, and they were the fifth and the sixth grades in elementary levels. The duration of the entire study was eight weeks and the study classes were conducted three times a week. Each session was 50 minutes on average. During the intervention period, three students studied seven picture books and learned English vocabulary and read texts. When self-regulated learning was applied, the changes of the students reading fluency and learning attitude were observed for the intervention period. The result indicated that all three students in this study improved their English early literacy abilities including reading fluency. Moreover, students in this study showed positive changes of learning attitude and their use of self-regulated learning strategies at the end of the intervention sessions. Further important pedagogical implications regarding self-regulated learning, reading fluency, and underachieving students in the English classroom were discussed.
