국문 초록

이 연구는 해방 이후 신탁통치부터 2000년대 초까지의 분단 소설의 흐름과 성격을 역사적 소설유형을 바탕으로 살펴보려 한 것이다. 분단 소설의 출발점은 해방 이후 신탁통치가 실시된 때이지만 본격적인 출발은 한국전쟁 이후이다. 전쟁 당시의 반공주의 전시소설을 거쳐 전쟁 이후에는 휴머니즘 소설이 분단 소설의 주요한 흐름이 된다. 이 휴머니즘 소설은 민족의 공동체적 기억을 회복함으로써 전쟁과 분단의 피해를 극복하려는 것이었지만 그 기저에는 반공주의가 여전히 깔려 있었다. 이러한 휴머니즘 소설의 구도는 관념소설의 등장으로 붕괴된다. 남북한의 이데올로기를 동시 비판하는 관념소설은 이데올로기 일반에 대한 비판에 주로 머물렀다. 1960년대에 들어와 유년기 전쟁체험세대가 본격적인 문학활동을 하면서 분단소설은 전쟁 체험을 복원하면서 전쟁 이후의 삶을 그려내는 단계로 이행한다. ‘순진한 눈’을 주로 이용한 이 단계의 분단 소설은 그때까지 우익의 입장에서 전쟁을 그려내었던 차원을 넘어 분단과 전쟁에 관련된 좌우익의 대립을 균형 있게 그려내는 지점까지 나아갔지만 내적으로 이데올로기 자체를 정면으로 다루는 것을 회피한 형태였다. 그러나 이러한 유년기 전쟁 체험 세대의 분단소설은 분단과 전쟁 그리고 이후의 삶을 보다 객관적인 차원에서 사실적으로 형상화하는 소설들을 낳는 기반이 되었다. 그리하여 분단과 전쟁 당시의 국제관계에서 이데올로기 대립의 구체적 내용이 다루어졌으며, 전쟁 체험의 사실적 형상화를 바탕으로 한 분단 현실의 기원 탐구가 수행될 수 있었다. 이로 볼 때 분단 소설의 역사는 반공주의의 억압으로부터의 이탈의 역사이면서, 전쟁 당시 또는 전쟁 직후의 강압적인 시대 분위기 속에서 왜곡되거나 은폐된 전쟁 체험을 주관적 체험의 차원에서 객관적 사실의 차원으로 복원해 나가는 지난한 과정이었다고도 할 수 있다. 가장 중요하고도 당연한 사실은 분단 소설의 역사를 몇몇 작가가 아닌 우리 소설사의 거의 모든 작가가 참여하여 만들어 왔다는 점이며, 반공주의로부터의 이탈과 사실 복원에 그 작가들이 거의 대부분 동의해 왔다는 점이다. 특히 이후 독재 비판이나 민주화 등 남한 사회에 제기되었던 여러 문제들을 분단 문제와 연계하여 다룬 것도 분단 소설의 중요한 의의가 될 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the flow and property of ‘the division novels of South Korea’ from the late 1940’s until the early 2000’s as the historical novel types. The starting point of the division novels is the time when the trusteeship by UN was implemented after Korean Liberation. Following the anti-communism novels in the Korean War, the humanistic novels become the main flow of the divided novel after the war. This humanistic novels were intended to overcome the damage of war and division by restoring the collective memories of the nation, but anti-communism was still under the base of them. The composition of these humanistic novels collapses with the emergence of the ideological novels. The ideological novel that simultaneously criticized the ideology of North and South Korea stayed in criticism of the ideology in general. In the 1960s, the novels based on the experiences of war in childhood began full-blown literary activities. As a result, the division novels transformed into a stage of life after war, restoring war experiences. Until that time, the division novel, which mainly used innocent eyes , went beyond the dimension of the right side of the war to the point of balancing the left and right conflicts related to division and war, but in the end, It was a form that avoided handling. However, the division novels of the childhood war generation became the basis for producing novels that realistically symbolize division, war, and later life on a more objective level. Thus, the specific contents of the ideological confrontation in the division and the international relations at the time of the war were dealt with, and the origin of the divided reality based on the realization of the war experience could be carried out. In this sense, the history of division novels is a history of departure from the oppression of anti-communism, and restores war experience distorted or concealed in the atmosphere of oppressive period of war or just after the war to the dimension of objective fact from the level of subjective experience It can be said that it was the last one. The most important and obvious fact is that almost all the writers of Korean fiction have participated in the history of divided novels, not some writers, and most of the writers have agreed to the deviation from the anti-communism and the restoration of facts. Particularly, it is an important significance of the divided novels to deal with the issues that have been raised in the South Korean society such as criticism of dictatorship and democratization in connection with the problem of division.
