국문 초록

日本近代文学は様々な土地の上で花を咲かせてきた。その中でも軽井沢は,近代文学によって築かれた地域のイメージが現在に至っても維持されているという点において、近代文学の作家たちに愛されてきた他の地域と異なる特性を持っているといえる。明治時代に西洋人宣教師によって避暑地として開拓された軽井沢は、上流階級の日本人に再現された西洋として認識されるようになる。そのような再現された西洋、モダンな休養地としての軽井沢のイメージは、文学作品によって大衆に共有された。しかし、日本近代文学における軽井沢の表象が過去に留まるものではなくて、現在においての軽井沢の地域性を構築する一助となっている点は注目に値する。 以上を踏まえて、本稿では文学における軽井沢の表象そのものではなく、文学作品における表象と地域性の構築との影響関係という観点からアプローチする。そうすることで、軽井沢における地域性の構築と日本近代文学との関係性を究明し、文学と地域性の相関関係に対して新たな視座を提示することを目的とする。

영문 초록

A number of masterpieces in the Japanese modern literature have been created at various areas of the country. In particular, Karuizawa is distinct from other areas favored by the writers of the modern literature in that its image shaped through the development of the modern literature has been maintained. Karuizawa, the area which the Western missionaries featured as a place where people comfortably enjoy summer days, has gained the image of the European location created by the noble classes of Japanese people. The image of Karuizawa as a modern resort was disseminated through the production of literary works mentioning this place. What is of particular importance, however, is that the representation of Karuizawa in the Japanese modern literature is not merely a past relics but currently serves to contribute to the construction of regional characteristics of the area. Taking into consideration the above facts, we address Karuizawa by focusing on the relation between its representation in literary works and the construction of the distinct characteristics of the area, rather than the representation itself. Through this attempt, we aim to unravel the relation between the construction of the regional characteristics of Karuizawa and the Japanese modern literature and to provide a new perspective from which the interconnected relation between the literature and regional features is investigated.
