ひらがな新聞『まいにちひらがなしんぶんし』記事文の言語的特徴

本研究では、ひらがなのみで書かれた新聞として1873年に創刊された 『まいにちひらがなしんぶんし』記事文の特徴を明らかにすることを目的とした。 従来の研究では、『まいにちひらがなしんぶんし』をはじめとして1873年に相次いで創刊されたひらがな新聞について「漢字をなくしても漢語が残ったまま」と指摘されていた。本研究では、はじめに語種比率を調査した結果、和語が80%弱を占めており、和語を中心として記事が書かれていることが確認できた。語の出現頻度の調査でも、高頻度で使用されている語はほとんどが和語であり、注釈がついた表現については、漢語から和語に言い換えて説明されている場合が多かった。このことから、『まいにちひらがなしんぶんし』は和語の使用を重視していたことがわかった。さらに、品詞比率の調査では、動詞と助詞の割合が先行研究で示された大衆向けの新聞での割合と一致しており、漢文体のようなかたい文体とは性質が異なることが確認された。

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to clarify the characteristics of the Mainichi Hiragana Shinbunshi, published in 1873 as a newspaper written with only Hiragana. In previous research, it was pointed out that “hiragana newspapers certainly did not use Kanji, however, they still used words of Chinese origin”. The author surveyed the ratio of words of Japanese origin to foreign loanwords. As a result, words of Japanese origin accounted for approximately 80%, and it was confirmed that the articles were written mainly with words of Japanese origin. Even in the survey of the frequency of appearance of words, most of the words used at high frequency are words of Japanese origin. The author also discovered that in many cases they paraphrased the words from a word of Chinese origin into a word of Japanese origin when they gave a supplementary explanation about the difficult word. The results show the Mainichi hiragana shinbunshi emphasized the use of words of Japanese origin. In the survey of the part-of-speech ratio, the proportion of verbs and particle was similar to the proportion of popular newspapers that the previous study had shown. This property is different from that of stiff style like the kanbun-kundoku style.
