국문 초록

本論文では2011年3月11日に起きた東日本大震災を契機として、日本文学者たちが文学の役割について悩み、日本社会と政府の事故収拾とその一連の過程で露になった問題に対する批判意識を盛り込んだ小説集『それでも3月は、また』に収録された小説の中で3.11東日本大震災を1923年に起きた関東大震災を召喚して形象化しているデイヴィッドㆍピースの小説「惨事のあと、惨事のまえ」を対象として小説で社会批判の声がどのように明らかになっているかを考察した。作家は小説の主人公として実存人物の芥川龍之介とを登場させ、現実の芥川の行跡と主人公の龍之介を重ねている。そして朝鮮人虐殺という重いテーマと連結し、現代の日本人たちが愛国心と団結に訴える点についての迂回的な批判を加えていることが分かった。そしてその過程で関東大震災と3.11東日本大震災をどのように交差させているのかを考察し、主人公だけでなく、震災の前後の状況を比較考察することによって作家デイヴィッドㆍピースが過去の惨事からの警告を与えていることを明らかにした。

영문 초록

The Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, which took place on March 11th 2011, made scholars of Japanese literature ponder upon the role of literature. As a result, the collection of fiction March Was Made of Yarn(それでも３月は、また) was published. The collection pointed out the problems that arose while the Japanese society and the Japanese government were trying to cope with the disaster. This paper focuses on one work from the collection, “After the Disaster, Before the Disaster”(惨事のあと、惨事のまえ) by David Peace. The writer of the fiction brings the readers back to the time of the 1923 Great Kantō earthquake. This paper looks into the way the writer compared the 1923 earthquake with the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. It also observes the way the fiction criticizes the society. The name of the main character Akutagawa Ryunosuke(芥川龍之介) is that of a real person in history. It feels as if Ryunosuke in the fiction is the same person as the real Akutagawa. In addition, the writer describes the mass murder of Koreans during the time of the Great Kantō Earthquake. This serious conflict described in the fiction shows the way people expressed their patriotic spirit in the state of exception. At the same time, the writer indirectly criticizes the so-called “unity” of the people, which justified the massacre as a means to minimize confusion amid an emergency. In this way, the fiction is pointing out the changes in the Japanese society after the Tōhoku earthquake.
