국문 초록

이 연구는 미국에 거주하는 한인 이민자들의 적응 및 정착을 위한 지침을 제공하고, 상담심리사의 교육과 훈련에 필수적인 자원 개발에 기여하기 위해 수행되었다. 미국에서 활동 중인 제1세대 한인 여성 상담심리사를 대상으로 한 사례연구 방법을 적용하여, 개인적 및 전문적 영역에서의 포괄적이고 심층적인 인터뷰를 통해 네 가지 주요 주제가 도출되었다: 외부 조건이 초기 발달에 영향을 미침, 타인을 우선시함, 네트워킹을 통한 역량 강화, 그리고 '소외된 삶'과 '황야에서의 삶'에 대한 수용. 이러한 연구 결과는 한인 이민자 및 아시아계 미국인 상담심리사의 발전에 중요한 통찰을 제공하며, 그들의 교육과 훈련에 실질적인 시사점을 제공한다.

영문 초록

This study was conducted to provide guidance for the adaptation and settlement of Korean immigrants living in the United States and to contribute to the development of resources essential for the education and training of counseling psychologists. A case study method was employed, focusing on a first-generation Korean-immigrant female counseling psychologist practicing in the United States. Through comprehensive, in-depth interviews in both personal and professional areas, four major themes emerged: external conditions influenced her early development, others were a priority, empowerment through networking, and the acceptance of a “marginalized life” and “life in the wilderness.” The findings offer critical insights into the development of Korean-immigrant and Asian-American counseling psychologists and provide practical implications for their training and education.
