일제 말 지식인의 만주행과 글쓰기

국문 초록

일제 말 많은 지식인들은 일제가 획책한 조선인 만주 이주정책에 동원되었다. 우리 민족에게 만주는 위험한 곳, 알 수 없는 곳에 지나지 않았다. 그러나 이는 국책으로 강요된 이미지에 의해 기회와 가능성의 땅으로 둔갑된다. 만주는 친근한 땅-우리 역사의 옛 땅, 항일운동의 근거지, 밀려난 농민이 살아갈 수 있는 곳, 조선인 자본가나 일반인 모두에게 부를 축적하고 출세할 수 있는 새로운 기회의 땅으로 인식되어 갔다. 그 인식의 과정에 지식인들이 만들어낸 만주 이미지의 힘이 컸다. 지식인들은 수동적으로 일제의 국책을 홍보하는 수단이 되기도 하였으나 점차 그를 내면화하기에 이르렀다. 국책으로 강요되는 만주 이주를 당연한 것으로 이론화하는 과정에서 자신들도 꿈을 꾸기 시작했다. 당시 조선의 형색이 어려웠던 만큼 새로운 땅에서 새로이 시작할 수 있을 것이라는 일종의 만주 드림을 갖게 되었다. 만주를 일종의 엘도라도로 인식하면서 그들은 정치적 새로움과 경제적 새로움을 그곳에서 일구고자 했다. 그러나 지식인들이 만들어내고 홍보하여 온 이론과 만주에서의 삶은 판이했다. 일제가 주장했고 자신들이 내면화해 온 오족협화, 동아신질서론 등의 지배이데올로기가 실상과 다름을 작가들은 날카롭게 인식하게 되었다. 내면화해 온 지배이데올로기의 이율배반이나 모순을 파악하게 되었던 것이다. 이때 지식인들이 택한 것은 현실과의 타협점이었다. 그것은 일제에 의해 마련된 글쓰기 장치를 활용한 글쓰기였다. 이주 후 지식인들의 글쓰기 활동은 개인적 작업을 넘어서 언론의 형성에까지 이르게 된다. 당시 그들의 글쓰기는 조국과의 연결 끈이었다. 또 그들의 글과 활동에 만주에서의 삶 등 조국의 매체들도 촉각을 곤두세웠다. 이렇듯 영향을 주고받으며 말없는 대화를 하며 조선 내외의 매체들은 존재하였던 것이다. 당시 이민지에서의 조국과 연결 통로인 신문 등 언론매체는 친일의 성격을 띠지 않았더라면 나타날 수 없는 것이었다. 일본의 자본을 빌어서라도 지식인들은 조국을 떠난 이민지에서의 글쓰기를 시도하고자 하였다. 이는 닫힌 사회를 살아가는 지식인들의 사회적 통로였다. 친일지의 대표격인 만주만선일보 삶에 그토록 많은 우리 문인, 지식인들이 거쳐 간 것은 그 때문이다. 우리는 민족적인 잣대에 의해 만주와 만주에서의 글쓰기, 만주 지식인, 만주 언론 등에 너무 무관심했다. 우리 지식인, 작가들은 무던히도 만주로 갔는데, 그곳에서의 활동은 전혀 언급되는 바 없이 문학사의 빈틈으로 남아 왔다. 일제에 의해 중단된 근대정신의 연속적인 연구를 위해 만주 연구는 중요하다.

영문 초록

Japanese Imperialism mobilized Korean intellectual in order to emmigrate Korean to Manchu in the late Japanese Imperialism. Before Korean regarded Manchu as a harmful place and a null site. Therefore that image had been changed. Manchu had been regarded as a familiar land, our -an old and traditional field, the basic ground of the resistance to Japan, the place which a farmer can live to be pushed out, the earth of new opportunity that both Joseon Korean bourgeois and the common people accumulates the wealth and can have great success in the life. In the course of such recognition, the intellectual performed his capability through making the Manchuria images. The Joseon Korean intellectual chosed the point of compromise of reality in the limit situation. The point of compromise of reality was the writing in A modern media maden by the Japanese Imperialism-for example, newspaper. After the emigration, the intellectual's writing is not a personal task but a formation of Manchuria journalism. Their writing is a ring to connect to their mother country at that time. Their writing and journal activity in Manchu has been interested Joseon media, Samcheon-ri etc. The interior and exterior media in Joseon have given each other the influence and communication then. The publication is possible then only if the newspaper does the pro-Japanese in manchu and the newspaper and journalism was unique linking passage with native country. The intellectuals tried the writing in Manchu through lending the capital of Japan. The journalism in manchu was social passage of a the intellectuals which live the closed society. Due to that our many authors, writers, intellectual worked in Mansunilbo, the representation of a pro-Japanese journalism. We are very indifferent to Manchu and writing in the Manchu, the intellectual of Manchu, Manchuria journalism etc. by the racial criteria. Including Choi-Namseon, many intellectuals, writerswent to Manchu, but we did not study their activity almost. The activity of writers was not known therefore and it made a unpre-paredness in the history of Korean literature. Continuous research of the modern times spirit about Manchuria for research to be ended by the Japanese Imperialism is important.
