충동성과 강조조건이 속도-정확성 교환작용에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 반응시간이 짧아지면 정확성이 감소하는 속도-정확성 교환작용이 충동성에 따라 강조조건(속도, 속도와 정확성, 정확성)에서 차이를 보이며 주의에서도 집단 간 차이를 나타낼 것이라 가정하고, 주의 네트워크 검사(Attentional Network Test)를 사용하여 이를 확인하였다. 214명의 남자 대학생에게 Barratt 충동성 검사를 실시하여, 충동성 점수에 따라 상하위 20% 범위에 드는 고충동 집단, 저충동 집단을 각각 선정하여 실험하였다. 그 결과, 속도와 정확성 강조조건, 정확성 강조조건에서는 충동성 집단 간 차이가 없었으나, 속도 강조조건에서는 고충동 집단이 저충동 집단보다 더 빠른 반응시간과 낮은 정확률을 보여줌으로써 고충동 집단은 속도 강조조건에서 속도-정확성 교환작용을 보였다. 또한, 속도 강조조건에서 주의 네트워크의 세요인(경계, 정향, 집행주의) 중 집행주의에서만 집단 간 차이가 유의미하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 높은 충동성자에게 속도를 강조하면서 과제를 수행하게 했을 때 더 빠른 의사결정을 내리지만 효율적으로 수행하지 못하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This study investigated speed-accuracy trade-offs of impulsivity based on emphasis instruction. Trade-offs were observed not only in response styles, such as speed and accuracy, but also in the differences of attention related with impulsivity through the Attentional Network Test. 27 undergraduate participants were classified into low- and high-impulsivity groups in accordance with their impulsivity scores, and were instructed to respond accurately, quickly, or accurately and quickly. As a result, only in the speedemphasis instruction set did the high-impulsivity group react faster, but more inaccurately than the low-impulsivity group, suggesting a greater speed-accuracy trade-off. Also, for the speed-emphasis instruction set, there were significant differences between groups in executive attention. In the current study, we were able to confirm that those with a high level of impulsivity experience difficulties in efficient performance when speed is emphasized.
