국문 초록

본 연구는 작업기억이 선택적 주의에 미치는 영향을 검증하기 위해 이중과제 절차를 이용하여 시각작업기억과 집행작업기억의 부하가 스트룹 효과에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 시각작업기억에 부하를 가하기 위해 Luck과 Vogel(1997)의 색상 과제를 이용하였고, 집행작업기억은 Turner와 Engle(1989)의 조작폭 과제를 이용하였다. 실험 1의 결과, 시각작업기억에 유지되는 색상정보와 스트룹 과제의 색상정보가 일치하는 경우에는 스트룹 간섭효과와 촉진효과가 모두 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 시각작업기억에 유지된 색상 정보가 스트룹 과제에 포함된 색상명에 대한 자동적 처리를 촉진시킨 것으로 해석할 수 있다. 실험 2의 결과, 집행작업기억의 부하가 스트룹 간섭효과를 증가시킨 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 집행작업기억이 주의과제 수행에 직접적인 영향을 미친다는 선행연구들을 지지하는 증거로 해석되고, 시각작업기억에 유지되는 정보와 선택적 시각주의에 요구되는 자원의 양상이 동일하더라도 작업기억에 유지된 목록과 주의 대상의 일치 여부에 따라 서로 다른 영향을 줄 수 있음을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study was investigated the effects of visual and executive working memory loads on Stroop effect using dual-task paradigm in order to examine the effect of working memory on selective attention. We adapted the color task used in the study of Luck and Vogel(1997) to load on visual working memory and the operation span task developed by Turner and Engle(1989) to load on executive working memory. In experiment 1, when maintaining color information was congruent with presenting color in Stroop task, Stroop interference and facilitation effects were increased. This result showed that the maintaining color information in visual working memory facilitated automatic processing of color words including Stroop task. In experiment 2, the load of executive working memory increased Stroop interference effect. We suggested that the result of this study was interpreted as evidence to support previous study about which executive working memory affected selective attention directly and that visual working memory had different effects on selective attention by correspondence between contents of visual working memory and objects of attention even if the modalities of maintaining information in visual working memory and resource of visual selective attention were identical.
