근대문화자산을 활용한 문화도시 구축과 지역발전

국문 초록

본 연구는 인천 중구 개항장과 주변지역을 활용한 문화도시로서의 잠재성을 문화자산 중심형, 문화산업 중심형 그리고 문화예술 중심형으로 구분해 분석했다. 그리고 이러한 분석을 토대로 ‘세계적인 문화도시 인천’으로의 성장을 통해 지역발전을 이끌어내기 위한 몇 가지 대안을 제안하였다. 첫째, 인천의 중구 개항지는 근대 문화자산이 집중된 곳이다. 따라서 근대문화 역사와 예술, 사회, 종교, 생활을 이해할 수 있는 공간으로 변화시키고 도시 전체를 거대한 근대 박물관으로 육성하는 것이 필요하다. 둘째, 개항지와 차이나타운, 동화마을 등으로 연결된 하나의 거대한 문화도시 구축을 통해 과거, 현재 그리고 미래가 공존하는 문화도시로 거듭나야 한다. 그리고 역사적 공간, 인물, 사건, 소품 등의 시놉시스 요소들을 활용한 다양한 콘텐츠 개발을 통한 문화관광도시로서의 이미지를 부각시킬 필요도 있다. 셋째, 도시재생 및 근대문화자산을 활용한 개항지만의 독특한 볼거리 및 축제 프로그램 개발을 통한 문화예술 공연의 다각화도 필요하다. 이러한 다양한 정책추진으로 인천 중구의 개항지는 과거와 현재 그리고 미래가 함께하는 공간으로서의 문화도시를 구축해 지역발전에도 긍정적인 효과를 가져올 것이다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed the potential of developing a cultural city using the port of Incheon Jung-gu and the surrounding area for cultural industry, cultural assets, and culture and arts. Based on the analysis, I propose several alternatives to promote regional development through its growth as the “world cultural city of Incheon.” First, the port of Incheon has a concentration of modern cultural assets. Therefore, it is necessary to transform modern cultural history, art, society, religion, and life into a space that can be understood and to nurture the whole city as a huge modern museum. Second, the area should be reborn as a cultural city where the past, present, and future coexist through the construction of a huge cultural city connected to the port, Chinatown, and Donghwa village. It is also necessary to highlight its image as a culture and tourism city through the development of various contents using synopsis elements such as historical space, characters, events, and props. Third, it is also necessary to diversify cultural and artistic performances through the development of unique sights and festivals that utilize urban regeneration and modern cultural assets. As a result of these various policy initiatives, the port of Incheon Jung-gu will have a positive impact on regional development by establishing a cultural city as a space where the past, present, and future coexist.
