국문 초록

최근 기존의 입력장치보다 비교적 조작이 자연스러운 동작 인식으로 센서를 통해 입력하는 방식은 다양한 분야에서 관심 받고 있다. 동작 인식 중 특히 손동작은 직관적으로 이해 가능하고 다양한 형태로 표현 가능하기 때문에 다방면으로 연구가 이루어져 왔다. 손동작 인식은 손영역 검출과 동작 인식의 과정으로 나눌 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 TOF(time-of-flight) 카메라를 이용하여 데이터를 추출하고 엄지손가락과 나머지 네 손가락을 구분하여 손동작을 판별하는 알고리즘을 제시하였다. 손 영역 검출 과정에서 피부색에 의존하는 어려움을 해결하기 위해 TOF 카메라의 거리 데이터를 이용하였다. 또한 원 또는 타원을 통해 손가락을 인식할 때, 엄지손가락의 인식이 제한되는 어려움을 해결하기 위해 호를 이용하여 엄지손가락과 나머지 네 손가락을 구분하여 인식하였다. 아울러 주먹 손동작의 인식률을 높이기 위해 손 영역이 아닌 빈 셀의 비율값을 이용하여 판별하는 과정을 추가하였다. 위 방법을 통하여 10가지 패턴에 대해 제안하는 알고리즘을 적용해 보았다. 확인된 손동작 전체 인식률은 96.7%로 나타났다.

영문 초록

Recently, inputting by natural motion through sensor is more interested in various fields than a conventional input device. Especially, since hand motions can be intuitively understood and expressed in various forms, many studies have been developed. Hand motion recognition consists of hand region detection and motion recognition. In this study, we proposed an hand motion recognition algorithm that distinguishes the thumb and the other four fingers from data which is obtained though TOF (time-of-flight) camera. To solve skin colour dependency problem during hand region detection, we used distance data from TOF camera. In order to overcome difficulty of thumb recognition when we recognize finger through circle or ellipse, the thumb and the other four fingers are distinguished. Also, to increase recognition rate of the fist, the process of discrimination using the ratio value of the empty cells is added. The proposed algorithm is applied to recognize 10 different hand motion patterns. Finally, we got 96.7% recognition rate for 10 different hand motion patterns.
