국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 人材교육체제의 이론적 근거를 Dewey의 교육론에서 찾아보고자 하는 것이다. 특히 『학교와 사회』를 주요 분석자료로 삼아 그의 교육론의 개념적 윤곽을 정리하고, 그의 경험 철학을 새롭게 조명하고자 했다. Dewey는 전통 철학에 반기를 들고 인간 삶의 문제에서 교육을 논의하는 방식으로 전환해야 함을 주장한다. 그는 정신지체를 야기하는 전통 철학의 ‘주의자’적 태도를 버리고 사회변화에 대응하 는 이상주의자적 자세를 취한다. 거기서 ‘교육의 바탕’의 복원, ‘주제몰입의 경험’ 제 공, 근본 교육질서의 숙고를 권고한다. 그의 경험 철학은 인간경험의 힘에 대한 신뢰 에서 나온 것이다. 그는 경험에 대한 새로운 이해, 인간경험의 힘의 역사적 왜곡과 그 힘의 복원, 경험의 다양성을 설파하고 있다. 오늘날 교육의 낭비가 ‘삶의 낭비’에서 비 롯된 것임을 보여주는 그의 교육론에서 人材교육체제의 이론적 논거를 찾을 수 있다. Dewey의 권고대로 생각을 키우고, 흥미를 허용하고, 주제몰입의 경험을 제공하고, 탐 구의 자유를 허용하는 교육체제로 전환하는 것이 시대적 과업이다. 이 과업은 교육과 정 비정상을 정상으로 전환하는 人材교육체제 구축과 연관한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to discover a theoretical ground of educational system for cultivating intellectual persons in educational theory of Dewey. By focusing on an analysis of his work『School and Society』, I want to organize the conceptual framework of his educational theory and to examine his experiential philosophy in a new perspective. Dewey had escaped from traditional philosophy, and insisted that we shall discuss education in a perspective of human life. He had abandoned the ideas of traditional philosophy that are the cause of mental stagnation, and took on an idealistic attitude in response to the social changes. Then, he recommends recovery of basics of education, provision of experience of subject immersion and consideration of basis of educational order. His philosophy of experience is derived from faith in power of human experience. His experiential philosophy preaches a new understanding on experience, historical distortion of power of human experience and its recovery, and diversity of experience. We can find a theoretical ground of educational system for cultivating intellectual persons from his educational theory, which proves that the waste of education in today s society is derived from waste of life. It is the task of our time to follow Dewey s guidance and convert to an educational system, in which we foster thinking, allow interests, provide experience of subject immersion and allow freedom of inquiry.
