국문 초록

본 연구는 중학생들을 중심으로 배려와 존중의 공동체를 형성할 수 있는 인성교육 프로그램을 개발하고 이에 대한 타당성을 검증하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 문헌연구와 기존 인성교육프로그램에 대한 검토에 기초하여 12차시 분량의 배려와 존중의 공동체 형성을 위한 인성 교육프로그램을 개발하였다. 그리고 1차 타당화를 위해 인성교육 전문가, 프로그램 개발 전문가, 현장 교육 전문가 12명으로부터 전문가 검토를 받고 수정을 하였다. 2차 타당화를 위해 2개 중학교 1학년 총 4개 학급 124명을 대상으로 개발된 프로그램을 실행하고 학생들을 대상으로 한 질적 자료를 수집하고 공동체 의식, 배려적 사고능력, 따뜻한 교육공동체 역량의 3가지 역량을 사전과 사후에 측정하여 비교함으로써 프로그램의 효과성을 검증하였다. 결과에 따르면 3가지 모든 역량에서 통계적으로 유의한 변화가 있게 나타났다. 질적 자료들에 따르면 학생들은 경쟁중심의 현 학교에서 인성교육 프로그램이 효과가 없을 것으로 생각했지만 실제 자기 자신에 대한 새로운 발견, 학급이 가진 강점에 대한 새로운 발견, 친구들의 감정에 대한 새로운 발견, 공동체에 기여한 후 갖는 기쁨 등 새로운 경험들을 함으로써 학급을 배려와 존중의 공동체로 인식하는데 도움이 되었다고 반응하고 있다. 이런 관점에서 새로 개발된 프로그램은 타당성을 확보할 수 있었다. 추후 보다 많은 인성교육 프로그램 개발에 대한 연구들은 인성교육에 대한 관심과 공동체에 기여할 수 있는 개인을 육성할 수 있게 함으로써 많은 사회적 문제의 예방과 극복에 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to develop and to verify validity of a character education program to build a community of caring and respect, focusing on middle school students. This study developed the 12 hour character education program to build a community of caring and respect based on literature review and review of existing character education programs. In order to make the first validation, the experts who are 12 persons of humanity education specialist, program development specialist, and field education specialist reviewed the program and revised. In order to make the second validation, the study implemented the programs for 124 students of 4 classes in 2 junior high schools. The effectiveness of the program was verified by measuring and comparing before and after data of the sense of community, caring ability, and warm educational community competence and collected qualitative data from students. The results show that there is a statistically significant change in all three competencies. According to qualitative data, students thought that the character education program would not be effective in the current competition-oriented school, but they found new discoveries about themselves, new discoveries about the strengths of the class, new discoveries about the feelings of friends, and new experiences, such as the joy of having contributed, have helped to recognize the class as a community of caring and respect. From this point of view, the validity of newly developed program was verified. More future researches on the development of character education programs will help to prevent and overcome many social problems and train individuals who can contribute to the community.
