영상매체를 경험한 유아의 자발적 그림 그리기 활동에 관한 질적 분석

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 유아가 TV 애니메이션 등 영상매체를 통하여 보고 경험한 것을 그림으로 표현하는 활동에 대하여 깊이 있게 탐구하는 것이다. 우리는 지우(연구대상유아)가 만 5세였을 무렵인 2013년 2월부터 2013년 8월까지 그렸던 약 30점의 그림들을 분석하였다. 그 외에 2015년에 2회에 걸쳐 진행한 지우엄마와의 면담 자료, 지우가만 8세였던 2016년 8월에 엄마와 지우를 대상으로 실시한 후속 면담 자료를 보완적으로 사용하였다. 수집한 자료들을 질적 분석한 결과 지우는 닌자고, 포켓몬스터 및 가면라이더 등의 영상매체를 보면서 자신이 외부 세계에 대하여 인상적으로 느낀 바에대하여 즉각적으로 그림을 그려서 표출하고자 하는 동적인 양상을 보여주었다. 그의그림들은 점진적으로 정교하게 발전되는 현상으로 나타났으며 그림에는 지우의 자신감이 강하게 느껴졌다. 또한 지우는 자신이 그린 그림을 매개로 부모 및 친구들과 소통하는 활동을 하였고 더 나아가 ‘선과 악’의 대결에 관한 모방에 머물지 않고 애니메이션 캐릭터의 이미지를 새롭게 변화시켜 스토리를 창의적으로 변환시키는 양상을 보여주었다. 본 연구는 유아의 그림에 대한 발달론적 고찰과 애니메이션 매체 경험과관련된 사회문화적 접근을 시도한 것 외에도 지우가 가진 고유한 통합적 측면에 대하여 탐구하였다는 특징을 보여준다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to deeply explore the major aspects of a child who engages in self-initiated drawings after watching TV animation etc. We analyzed about 30 drawings that Jiwoo, a five years old single participant, drew between 2013 February and August. We also conducted interviews twice with Jiwoo’s mom and another separate video data collection with Jiwoo in 2015; his mom together on and video data conducted with Jiwoo’s mom together in 2016. By qualitative data analysis, Jiwoo enjoyed watching Ninjago, Pocketmonster, Kamenrider etc and tended to directly digest outer world’s stimulus and actively expressed his own feelings after watching such diverse animations and movies etc. In his series of drawings, he tended to immerse himself into such media watching and showed his confidence on his ways of projecting his feelings and impressions into the drawings. He also revealed the patterns of expanding himself in several ways that he wanted to make up his own stories creatively in his drawings with his new invention of animation characters, not just imitating the combat between good and evil expressed in the media animation, and to share his own stories with his friends or/and mom. This paper presented that we tried to explore not only the salient features of his drawings and socio-cultural play activities, but to investigate Jiwoo’s whole aspects beyond such socio-cultural viewpoints.
