애니메이션 캐릭터 선호가 다른 유아들의 등장 캐릭터들에 대한 시각적 주의집중 분석

국문 초록

유아 교육에서 캐릭터는 유아와 교육내용을 연결시키는 매체로서 유아들에게 흥미와 호기심을 유발할 뿐 아니라 주의를 집중시키는 중요한 교육적 기능을 수행한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 ‘뽀롱뽀롱 뽀로로’와 ‘겨울왕국’에 등장하는 캐릭터에 대한 선호도가 다른 유아들의 안구 운동을 분석하여 시각적 주의집중의 특성을 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 ‘뽀롱뽀롱 뽀로로’를 선호하는 집단과 ‘겨울왕국’을 선호하는 집단을 대상으로 시선추적을 통해 과제 이미지에 대한 시선고정 데이터를 산출하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 iMap을 이용한 fixation map을 분석하였다. 그 결과 ‘뽀롱뽀롱뽀로로’를 선호하는 집단은 캐릭터를 볼 때 자신과 비슷한 성격이나 외모를 소유한캐릭터에 대해 유의미하게 시선고정이 일어났다. 그리고 ‘겨울왕국’을 선호하는 집단은 캐릭터를 볼 때 과장된 몸동작이나 독특한 외모를 가진 캐릭터에 대해 유의미하게 시선고정이 일어났다. 이러한 결과는 애니메이션 캐릭터 선호도에 따라 등장 캐릭터를 바라보는 유아들의 주의집중 양상이 다르다는 것을 의미한다. 본 연구 결과는 유아를 대상으로 한 애니메이션 캐릭터 개발이나 캐릭터를 활용한 학습 콘텐츠제작에서 유아의 선호도에 따른 시각적 주의집중 특성을 반영해야 할 필요가 있음을 시사한다.

영문 초록

Characters in learning materials for preschool children is very important because characters have many educational functions. Characters arouse children’s interests and curiosity and especially characters attract the attention of preschool children. According to recent studies, the tendency of different preference on characters influences on the choice of learning contents and learning effect. However, no studies have investigated how the different preferences on animation characters influence on educational functions of characters, especially on visual attention. So, the purpose of this study is to analyze visual attention of preschool children with different preferences during watching animation characters using eye tracking. For this purpose, we used iMap toolbox and analyzed fixation map on each task images which contains the characters in TV animation series ‘The little penguin Pororo’ and disney animation ’Frozen’ of two groups of preschool children with different preference on the animation characters. The results is that the preschool children who prefer ‘The little penguin Pororo’ has significantly longer fixation on characters who have similar appearance or personality to themselves. On the other hands, the children who prefer ‘Frozen’ has significantly longer fixation intensity on characters who have unique appearance or theatrical gestures. The results showed that the characteristics of the visual attention in animation characters is different by character preferences. The results suggest that the different visual property have to considered when developing animation characters and learning contents using characters.
